That's a good point. I have 2 kinds of squash and 2 kinds of pumpkins. I guess I'll try the saved seeds in their own area and see what happens, lol.

I just noticed that all of my stuff is hybrids except for the Green Striped Cushaw. So, I guess it won't work to save seed.

Oh so just for mice...yeah I got a bigger problem than lil mice I'm afraid.

I'm confused, lol. I said we got 3 chipmunks & you asked for a link to the traps. We did get a mouse, & 3 chippys. But they are rat/chipmunk traps. If you're looking for something bigger I'd say a have a heart & bait it with something tasty & then off whatever you catch (drown or shoot). But you do have to be careful what you trap or at least know your laws, here in CT there are laws & hunting seasons for everything from squirrels to rabbits to groundhogs & everything in between. We don't necessarily have a nuisance law, but generally it's ok if you contact DEEP & tell them you've lost livestock to, say, a bobcat - then they'll let you shoot it. I don't think squirrels would qualify for that here. Do you have any idea what you're dealing with?

If you choose carefully you can grow more than one type of squash and save open pollinated seed . Providing you have no close gardening neighbors . the C. Pepo group is the the most common . You can also hand pollinate . C.Moschata is fairly easy thank butternut and Dickinson pumpkin canning factory type . Cushaw is fairly safe . Seed savers is a good resource for seed saving info . I learned a lot from them over the years .

No I don't know what I'm dealing with...only thing I have visibly seen with my 2 eyes is a huge groundhog 3 times larger than my 20 lb. cat. I have no idea if there are other critters. My guess is there are. But either way pretty sure they won't fit in that trap.

Sorry, I forget not everyone has chippys like we do! We literally have hundreds & hundreds of them so everyone around here knows what a chippy is. DH says when he lived an hour or so north of here they didn't have any.

The traps are the perfect size for chippys so no, you def won't catch anything much bigger! I'd go with a medium or large have a heart & see what you catch. We put two out not long ago & the first night & got a groundhog (or a woodchuck, not sure what he is) & a skunk. We let them both go as they weren't doing any damage around here. Everything loves peanut butter! Good luck.

Heading for over 100 hazy humid degrees again today and for the next 10 days. Brutal.
Ran the ground irrigation in the orchard for two hours this morning and the garden for 1.5 hours. No way I was standing out there with a hose. So instead I walked the firebreak and sprayed for weeds. LOL.
I'll have to hose the noodlenecks later. The hens are staying in that way I KNOW they're in the shade. Otherwise, they hang in the sun until they are TOO hot and then go hide.
PLUS I'm NOT searching a cattle pasture later for any of them. I might get them some frozen peas later for snack.
