What did you do in the garden today?

We picked a batch of green beans, cucumbers, green peppers, and cherry tomatoes today.
We also picked a few ears of corn for supper. The ears weren't as big and nice as they usually are, but I'm thankful none the less. I plan on picking and freezing the rest in a few days.

I think it's everything. I live in the high desert, southwest Utah. We've had no rain for MONTHS. I keep up with watering (and fertilizing) but...who knows what's in the water. Scorching heat, and we always have really high winds........and of course gophers, deer, various bugs, but I think they are the least of it. Everything I planted got to a certain point and simply refuses to grow any farther.

welcome to the club. I cannot believe I don't have zucchinis. the same thing now with cucumbers. lots of flowers and no cukes. tomatoes are wilting, 1 variety has flowers and no fruits. only bell peppers are thriving, for the first time ever.

I had to have DH put a young pullet down tonight. I've had her in the infirmary cage in my sunroom for nearly a month. She started with a limp which worsened. Initially I thought one of the roosters hurt her trying to breed her. Then I thought maybe she had a slipped tendon. Tonight I looked her over really well. She has lost a ton of weight. Her comb looks very pale and unhealthy. And she can no longer walk. I'm guessing maybe Mareks? Not a good prognosis for sure. No one else in the flock is sick or showing any symptoms...even the 20+ new chicks my chickens have hatched over the spring and summer are all healthy. Of course, it could be something other than Mareks like some other virus, bacteria, or even a vitamin deficiency. Not sure but since she was going downhill, we simply did the humane thing and ended her suffering. Bummer...

could be MG as well.

Our smallest rooster Rednar somehow escaped from the bachelor pen the other night. He was running around the garden area, and Mr. Dog couldn't catch him before he had to go to work. By the time I got home at 2am, Rednar was of course perching as close as he could get to the hens' yard. I was able to grab him and put him in with the hens. No use putting him back with the boys until we figure out how and where he escaped, so he's living it up as the only rooster with the girls.

Not much in the garden, except watering at night and waiting for plants to grow, repotted the last of my seedlings.

@Beccatrix
Your nasturtium are absolutely everything I dreamed of!!! Stunning! Did you plant them from seed? Do tell all your secrets please!
Killed at least 4 or 5 mating pairs of squash bugs

Awe man I'm so sorry! After nursing one for a few days from hatch with slipped tendon it was worst thing I've ever had to do for the sake of the lil baby. I can't imagine havin to with an older one...much less injured by a horn dude. I'm really sorry.

Oh no! They tend to find anything to injure themselves... I hope it is something minor and your horse is recovering.
She has a bowed tendon. She is on stall rest for at least a month... This is a lot of extra expense I hadn't counted on, but no other options... She is also getting bed sores on her hocks and armpits. I ordered her some neoprene hock boots. Hopefully those will help.
