What did you do in the garden today?

Nothing happening today in the garden as I have Mom duty! My dumb chicken is still broody. I let her out last night & she ran right to the nest. I have poor DH dunking her & checking on her water as it's at least a million degrees out there.

I have a cucumber that I'm going to need to pull, looks like the bugs are getting to it. & a pole bean that I think the heat killed. The spaghetti squash isn't looking spectacular either, not sure what's happening there but I've got 5 good squash on it so if it dies I'll call it a good first try & plant it again next year.

The 2nd round of yellow squash have flowers. The 2nd round of pole beans are starting to climb. Lots of tomatoes coming in & Mom & I are having BLTs for dinner. :yesss: I really want to start braiding garlic tomorrow. Maybe the first pull of onions are ready too. I'm sure the shallots aren't even close. (I want to make my sister a garlic/onion/shallot braid)

Trombocino summer squash. Does not get hit by SVB. Grows these long squash, which cook up ljust like summer squash.
Ooooh, making note of this for next year! Do you remember where you got the seeds?

Lol, Yeah, I didn't tell him because I was grateful for the help but he also pulled all of the dried bean pods out that I was saving for seeds. 😅
I swear they do it on purpose so they don't have to help again. Mine does that crap all the time. Chopped down a really unique colored echinacea that I was trying to get healthy to propagate.

Are those the same as yard long beans? I ordered some for the first time to plant next spring.
Yes! I just ordered some purple ones.

In fact I just ordered a whole bunch of stuff for next year as my notes were getting too long. :gig Trying the asparagus beans, edamame & the Tromboncino squash - all for the first time next year.

eta: & some new types of rutabaga & turnips too.

I wish I would stick to not saying anything....but I get an worked up it usually slips out lolol

Believe me, if he were with me when I found the lack of my hard work remaining in the garden he would have noticed my award winning dramatic hissy fit in the garden but fortunately each time an incident occurred he wasn't there. I would probably be a bigger nag about it if he didn't beat himself up so much. 😅 Most of the time he's really careful but so far this year I've lost radish seeds, bush bean seeds, tromboncino squash, and I ALMOST lost my pineapple ground cherry but I have a stick with a clothespin right next to it, so he hesitated and asked me first. LOL! Saved by a clothespin. 😆
