What did you do in the garden today?

I took a bunch of garlic plants to a Church mission trip fund raiser.  The stuff flew off the tables when I explained to folks how it could be a plant it once, harvest it forever crop.  I had to laugh when one young lady looked at me, scrunched up her face, and said, "Why would I want to plant it when I can just go to the store and buy it?"   I responded, "Why would I want to go to the store and buy it when I can just go to the garden and harvest it?"

I lost count of how many people have made that "buy it in the store" comment to me!

Lol.

I can barely sell it for 50 cents a bulb at our farmers market, every one looks at your stand and says "I can get it cheaper at walmart" :barnie :/ That's why I want to see if I can sell to the health food store in town.
when people tell me they can get it somewhere cheaper I always tell them that's where they need to go.

Today, GS and I spread almost an entire load of cardboard (truck load of broken down large appliance boxes) and spread the remains of a load of wood chips. Around the green house and to square up the border between the orchard and back lawn. Amazing how fast the stuff gets used up. I'll be begging for an other load of chips, and need to pick up an other load of cardboard before I can continue mulching.

GD and I picked 2 bowls of tomatoes to process.

Started cleaning some basil seeds, there still WAY more where that came from :th

After getting a little over 3 inches of rain over the last 4 days, I turned over two more raised beds! It's was like butter compared to the efforts with the previous six! I had the energy to make two instead of one! Ha! Still have at least 4 more to go.

I think tomorrow I'm going to rip out the tomatoes, peppers, etc. and turn the chickens loose in the garden. They'll likely tear up my newly-created, newspaper-covered beds, if I don't fence those off. Regardless, I think they'll have a blast! They may post what they did tomorrow!

My neighbor invited me to go through his scrap wood pile. I pulled out quite a few pieces, and may go back for more! I was like a kid in a candy store!

. It must be nice to have rain. It hasn't rained here for so long we have forgotten what it looks like. People are even hoping for a hurricane.
