What did you do in the garden today?

Been watching it for the better part of the week and I finally caught it.
My star fruit, blooms only at night and for one night only. I got a picture of it. These flowers are HUGE, they are probably 8 inches across. I think a specific moth pollinates them Ill have to read up on it but I tried hand pollinating it, lets see if it takes.

Good morning gardeners. Been busy getting stuff done here. My granddaughter is here for the weekend and she caught me cleaning out my closet. We looked through pics of her dad and aunt when they were little, her dad is my baby and just turned 30 :old Anyway, I came across this pic of my pothos climbing up the stair railing and wanted to share. I loved entering my home and seeing this space each time. Have a great day all!

pomegranate
I love pomegranates. My grandmother had an old tree at her farm that was planted by my great grandmother. I planted some pomegranate seeds last year. Three sprouted but last winter all the leaves died back. Instead of sprouting new leaves in the spring, they all sprouted new wood instead? Don't understand how it's supposed to grow into a tree if it sprouts new wood each year instead of just sprouting new leaves on established wood...

We tried. Really!

I hunted for Rutabaga seeds. I have seeds for 7 varieties!! These came from a few sources.

I planted six varieties. I lovingly covered them with netting to deter the cabbage loooer moths. But, they hardly grew. We fertilized them, that helped. A couple varieties really tried to produce. But then, the leaves started to turn a rusty yellow color and clearly they were in decline.

Just yesterday I removed them all - barely any tiny roots.

So, sadly, no rutabaga this year.
Me too. :(

I bought a young tree. I don't know if they grow from seeds or from roots (like hazelnuts if I remember well).

Beets are cooked, peeled, chopped and are now in the pressure canner. I got 5 full quarts of beets! Hopefully they process well.

Here is the thru-the-night progress:

You can see the new people-door in the barn. The fence area with no fence currently will become a gate that will swing open. It will be covered with chain link in the meantime. The rest of the run will get new fencing, but might be a few weeks till then.

@Acre4Me Looks great!

Although I am waiting for everything to stop, the garden just keeps on giving! Pulled 2 green tomatoes, two buckets of beans (gave one to my neighbor), 4 cucumbers, 1 zucchini (the plants I thought were all dead…), and a small bowl of arugula. We had enough kale for a large salad last night. Shocked at my pepper plants, a bunch of new peppers showed up out of nowhere in the past week or so! I really wanted to burn the tomato and zucchini plants today, but of course it is raining, and yesterday it wasn’t but we had obligations.
