What did you do in the garden today?

Nope, it's too hot in my country, cabbage and broccoli and cauliflower won't grow in the summer. And my father had turned all of our fields into greenhouses. He's a tomato farmer. So we just put everything in a greenhouse. There are barely any insects inside as well.
I'm wondering if your country has a cold enough weather for them.

I grow brassicas in winter. no greenhouse. they don't mind little frost we get. my winter garden grows much better than summer garden (if there is any, lol).

We pulled in a lot of things today. Here’s the photos. Prepped Serrano and jalapeños for canning tomorrow. Lots of tomato’s out still but pulled in the ones that were in the ground, from the plants flopping over.

I think the Hubbards were ready to go, a few maybe borderline. Zucchini is being turned into bread.

Lots of herbs still out, rabbits been eating the beets…I’ve been too tired to get out hunting, which is really disappointing to be honest. Electric fencing is complete, tons of bears out right now, so not too late. One puked in our front yard, looks like it got into a squash/zucchini plot. As the weather cools more they will be more active in the area and hopefully this will dissuade them from exploring the coop.

All the best.

In the summer, you have to grow summer vegetables, dragon beans are great and also corn and eggplants. Tomatoes and peppers are very susceptible to viruses but grow well during the summer.
I think we live in very similar conditions. So no greens during the summer. The Mediterranean sun will kill them all.
We grow them in greenhouse because my father has turned all of our fields into greenhouses. So basically there’s not a lot of place to plant them anywhere else. Hahaha.

I plan to grow corn and some tomatoes, peppers and eggplants in summer. I will see if millet, quinoa and amaranth will survive the heat. they can be planted 2-3 x a year here so no big deal if they don't make it in july/august. I am moving from the zone 9b/10a to 9a. I hope to have better luck there.

this year my zucchini and tomato plants blossomed but did not have any fruit. I have just heard that we imported some disease from netherlands (together with seeds). all of old seeds will be thrown away and I ordered and received new more local seeds. hopefully those seeds are healthy. I got it from a small scale farm that take care of their produce.
