What did you do in the garden today?

My organic fence fix.... 😂 Thank you for the idea!

I'm so glad you had something that would work! We have broomsedge out here so I thought of it. We also have yucca and false yucca, both of which would also work well enough for keeping chicks in, and were used by the native americans to make cordage etc. It won't keep predators out, but that doesn't seem to be the issue at hand.

I agree, right now the cost of refined metal products, such as fencing, is ridiculous. I'm made aware of it because we're looking at and pricing out options to put up a perimeter fence on the 10 acres after closing. Still waiting on the survey of course. I had hoped we'd hear form him today, but no luck. Maybe tomorrow.

At the moment we're eying barbed wire. Can put up a six strand fence for a pittance compared to other options.

What's funny is that I have complained about the wireweed all summer. It's been the bane of my existence because it's rampant and you can only cut it down with the mower or electric hedge trimmers. It is resistant to the weed trimmer. Animals won't eat it. It's like a thick, bushy, wiry scrub. Not even pretty to look at... Who knew it would end up being a salvation

Do the radishes look kinda funky. I asked the seed guy and he said: “yeah they might have had sex with the daikon last year.”
So I have half daikon half purple radish and they’re really ugly, I thought I might sell some of the radishes, but there’s no way now that I know how they look like. View attachment 3302244View attachment 3302246
Too ugly to sell hahaha, but they’re pretty tasty.
Also, first rain today! Yay

I wouldn't mind the looks as long as they are tasty. and they are not ugly to me either.

Please explain how you do this? I've only peeled ginger with a sharp knife. I always feel like I'm taking too much off.
Use the cup side of the spoon and use the edge to scrape against the ginger, almost like you'd scrape a carrot. I used to cut the skin off too and a spoon is so much better.
