What did you do in the garden today?

Yesterday in the garden, we now have 3 pear trees planted! Last year , we planted 3 apple trees & 2 plum trees. It’s getting harder each year to do the labor.
I have a pear and the fruit is just so sweet. THOSE you have to be careful and pick it actually before it ripens, otherwise it can get over ripe on the tree. There are other hazards too. if blackbirds see it, it's toast, wasps love getting into and nesting in over ripened fruit too. However if the blackbirds do attack, a 16 ga with #8 shot and you got 4 and 20 black birds to bake in a pie! The black bird meat, is oh so sweet !!

Good thing we all know you’re kidding!

am I?
the birds will destroy your tree if they find ripe fruit in it. they will peck holes in it and tear it up right on the tree, anything left is going to be all tore with holes. and no i dind't use a 16 ga I used a .410 with small enough shot that I didnt need to worry about hitting the neighbors house with overshoot. Blackbirds DO make a tasty pot pie though!! very sweet meat but like most any other bird that size, you really only get the breast, not much meat worth cleaning from anywhere else, get the fingers up and scoop out.

chickens love pears and I have not seen the seeds do any harm to them BUT do remember it's like giving them almost pure sugar, so only give a small bit as a snack.

Edit: Let me add, starlings, all fall into the 'blackbird category' afaic. Starlings are also a very invasive species and have caused serious issues for the native birds in many parts of the US, so culling them IMO is a good thing, and it's not going to waste either. Black Birds may need a bit of marinate, crow absolutely needs to marinate a bit but starling you can get away with just cooking right off the bird. They really ARE delicious.
