What did you do in the garden today?

Good luck, I hope all works out! Are you ready to move? Everything packed, etc?

still waiting for the papers. I packed a lot of things. but as one day is hot and another cold I cannot pack properly.

btw, I found a small tomato on an august plant! probably principe borghese (similar to roma/san marzano).

@Wee Farmer Sarah are you still without snow and above normal temps? Crazy.
It's been a very warm fall, still haven't had a killing frost, never mind a freeze - which is weird. But I heard the word 'twenties' just now on the news so that seems more like it. Not complaining with oil at almost $6 a gallon...

Glad you found out it was the stupid cat.
We close on the ten acres tomorrow, and Dad has brain surgery to remove his tumor on Wednesday.

Been a really wild two weeks...
Happy thoughts to you on both. I surely do hope Dad gets all fixed up quick & the closing goes off without a hitch. ❤️
Found a volunteer on my acreage! Cuke or melon. Today I did some last cleanup before the hurricane. Quail pens are strapped down but I’m still bringing the birds inside.
Yes, all you Florida people stay safe!

Up early, the time change messes with me. But I got to see the eclipse. I got the lettuce thinned out yesterday & DH picked up some of the leaves in the garden. I pulled all the thyme & sage & processed it, I need to cover the bed with leaves & hope they make it thru the winter. @Wee Farmer Sarah - is that all you do? They always die on me. 😒

Yes, that’s about it. Now my herb beds are overgrown with parsley and oregano and I really need to clean them up in the Spring. My sage is looking a bit peaked so I’m not sure if it will make it through this winter. These herb plants are all 4 years old. OK, too early, I need to finish my coffee. Don’t forget to vote today.

Morning . I did not want to get up but I did . Got my first cup of coffee . We went to the city as DW had a blood draw . Got groceries and a Menards stop . Got more LED lights and some Tarkett laminate flooring for the hallway . A test run to see if I can do this alone . Menards no longer has Mohawk brand which was hard to lock in . My adult grandson did the install at the cabin . I could hardly get it to lock in . Tarkett seems easier . The bedrooms come next if the hall install goes well . The grandson has a busy life and little time .

got up early this am and got some stuff shuffled out in the yard, some totes blended in to let sit and stew over winter so they are ready and mellowed by spring. Need to pick up about a dozen more and I think ill for the most part be finished with the 'aquisition' phase of the totes I actually want, then comes the ongoing ... been ongoing for umm 3 years now? filling of the totes with compost, and all other goodies to grow in. I do not want to buy a thing but rather want to fill them naturally with lawn clippings / leaves / food scraps, chicken poop and of course the ever bearing 'Too Poo' Hopefully this week I get some garlic planted. Won't be doing 4 totes again but maybe a few. Should probably throw some taters in while we are yapping too. I have a phosphate experiment I want to try for fertilizers and want to see if it actually DOES make a big difference. Pulling goodies out of urine, and need a few side by sides growing to see how significant it is, whether it's worth the little bit of work put into it or not.

I REALLY need to get on the ball.... Weather is going to plummet into the 20s with highs in the 40s this weekend. I still have to healthy to-do list....

1. Get berries in the ground
2. Dig up the peppers for winter
2. Burn garden scrap
4. Sweep up leaves
5. Finish the duck coop
6. Put out de-icers for animals
7. New straw for goats
