What did you do in the garden today?

Thanks! I’m excited to fill them up. I need to find a good rhythm of when to add compost to the garden. Maybe 2-3 weeks before planting and then again at the end of harvest?
Those are great times. But there isn't a "bad" time to add compost to the garden, IMO.

New pressure cooker ordered. Now's the time to get that kind of stuff since stores are getting things in for early black friday sales. Glory, the price of these things has come down in 8 years!
Guess who had an allergic reaction to her new antihistamine for allergy shots Thursday? Yup ::this Girl:: What a surprise, eh? I can't get another shot until doc figures out if I can go without the pills first, I have officially had a reaction to every antihistamine available. (I told them so when I started as that's WHY I have to get allergy shots. If the pills worked I wouldn't need the stupid shots.)
Ugh. I swear.

I think it depends on the condition of the compost and what’s in it. My basic kitchen compost breaks down pretty quick but it only has paper, cardboard, coffee grounds and veggie scraps. Some grass clippings and small yard debris. Add larger yard debris, chicken poop, etc, and it takes longer. My environment is also extremely dry though so your results will probably vary.

:highfive: I wish! We’ve only lived in places without gas here and I miss it for the stove. I use propane and a burner for pressure cooking or even water bath canning in large batches.
Well I figured out this morning that the air vent on my lid was loose. After tightening it, I processed the broth/stock and had ZERO trouble this time with the canner. It maintained pressure consistently the entire time so I take back what I said about canning on a glass top stove.

The canning lids were a different story. I remember some of you were having trouble with some of the Ball lids. I reused some old lids but also bought some new lids. I don't know if the troublesome ones were new or old.

I don’t remember if it was the old or new. I think the new, and I’m not sure who mentioned it. Glad you got it work!

I noticed after I opened the canner lid that some of the pint lid centers were repeatedly "popping" up and down and there was liquid spontaneously sputtering from around the rings. Used the tongs to take them out and set them on a towel on the counter. Sputtering continued for a few minutes but eventually stopped. All the jars are now cooled and seem like the tops are sealed but I'm not sure. Any suggestions on how to check? Should I even trust the ones that were sputtering liquid from the rings after they were removed from the canner?
