What did you do in the garden today?

Same here, it's easy to throw away Gurney's catalog, since their plants have failed me in the past.
Yeah, I recycled that one too. I won't order from them again. Never heard of Living Seed. I'll have to check them out.

Well, I feel really lucky atm. No broken bones. @Ascholten, man, that looks painful. And I know at our age, bones don't heal as quickly as they did when we were younger.

Water... I have to keep remembering that not everyone lives in the Great Lake State. We get droughts, but not like the plains or out west. Not yet, anyway.

Counting my blessings now.

the washing machine, the hose that comes out of the back, pull it out of the drain hole and put it in a bucket or get a longer hose and run it out the window into a bucket or something, you can make that work. it's also pretty decent flushing water too.

and NO don't use the AC water for cooking, it has a nasty taste and is not potable anymore due to the fact you did not sterilize it.

Aaron
Nope, not going to happen. It’s not worth fighting with Igor about it and we’ve already had the discussion. Our compromise was the more expensive machine that uses less water. Opening a window is not an option either. Igor works outside on blacktop with semi trucks running, even when it’s 115+ and that’s enough suffering in my opinion.

I don’t use the condensation to water any food plants, I wouldn’t ever use it for cooking.

It may seem counterintuitive, but hydroponics uses less water to grow stuff so I’m looking into this as a longer term option and learning about it more.

The Bombardment was really moving, it was great. If you liked that, you might also like The Forgotten Battle and The Zookeeper's wife. Both also WWII movies with everyday people forced into heroic roles.
Derry Girls was hilarious, I definitely will check out Extinct and Still Game.
Tonight we watched Inside the Mind of a Cat, if you have cats you will enjoy it.
I saw those when they came out. Forgotten Battle was good, albeit a little slow. There is another version of ZWife online I prefer, but cannot think of the title atm.
Still Game is snarky, and can be hard to understand in places due to its Glaswegian accent. DH had trouble sometimes, but as I am a speaker of, it was no problem for me. You can easily fill in the blanks by context. Once he got the hang of it, it was fine.
Mind of a Cat was great!
Secret life of Funji is other one, or world? Secret world of funji. Something along those lines.

Is @TJAnonymous out with full plague??

Agree on the crown/implant/root canal.

Crowns have always failed me, and I'm not sure one is the right route for this tooth. If I get it pulled and another implant (I have others, love them) then it has to be removed by an endontist as it is next to another implant. Might go the root canal first on this one as it is not as destroyed as my others have been.

As for drought, we're not restricted in any way, but dang, we should have been, we are down 8 inches on water, and 7 inches on snow so far. People below us are still using water like they have no idea. ALL of the area cattle ponds and feeder creeks are now dry, and ranchers are having to haul water to the stubble fields daily to keep herds alive. We're talking huge ponds that are normally 10 feet deep. Normally we just have to take an ax to the ice this time of year.

We have 10-12 weeks to get ground moisture in, or a LOT of spring field planting isn't going to happen, and then corn and soy is going to be a crap shoot. But a lot can happen in that time

Ive done things to cut my water use just to do it, to see 'how low i can go', not out of any need or necessity.

The air conditioner, the condenser coils can get you 5 gallons a day easily. Thats good for watering.

I keep a bucket in the shower, when you first turn it on and it's cold, and YOU DONT SHOWER BECAUSE ITS COLD, catch it, its good for many things, I use it for my dishes, making coffee, whatever, because it IS good clean water !

Your washing machine, the rinse cycle. If you are doing multiple loads, do your coloreds last, ie the cold. collect the rinse water from the previous batch and use that as the wash water for the coloreds, throw soap in it and viola you saved 30 gallons of water. the restof the rinse water, throw it on your garden. the soap wont hurt the plants a bit in fact drives the bugs up. It's relatively clean anyways, so won't hurt anything.

don't let them tell you NO, you tell them. NO, No you do NOT get to tell me I can't have a garden etc. Where there's a will there's a way.

Collecting rain water off the roof is HUGE. Grab some IBC totes, for me an inch of rain is about 1200 gallons of water for the plants.

Aaron
This, my friend, might be my favorite post ever. “Don’t let them tell you no.” Love it.

I always put the subtitles on, due to my poor hearing.

ill try to get an implant however last time i looked into that was told that since i chewed tobacco for 20 plus years, i had a lot of bone loss so there's really not enough bone material left to implant it in, so was not a good candidate. The tooth that cracked is a molar too so not sure they can even do an implant back there. Idunno ill have to look but yes id rather just pull the thing and leave it be, ill chew up front or on the other side more, I get tired of lets fiddle with this, thats 1500 bucks. lets put a doohickey in, thats 2100 bucks, ooh it cracked again, time for the thingamajig, that's 1700, oh well, gotta pull it now, and put a pluggemupper in there, that's 2000. Pull the sob and be done with it. if i can't chew then ill put the crap in a blender and use a straw...

Oh geez, that's terrible. I won't even do crowns any more, after getting my first implant. The way it happened was same thing as you (giant filling fell out) they sent me to an endodontist - a very pleasant experience, the three hours sitting there was like a restful spa treatment with enjoyable muzak, due to breathing as much gas as I wanted the whole time.
But only a few days later, the crown failed and the remainder of the tooth shattered, so I had no choice but to get it pulled. I had enough $ saved in my FSA to get an implant, and it turned out so perfect, I was chewing better than I had in years, with zero pain which was a new thing - I'd gotten used to having to chew carefully.
The next time another tooth cracked, the dentist wanted me to go to the endodontist, get a crown, etc, "Oh nO, we Need to SAVE your TOoth!" I told him, no way, please just pull it now, and I'll get an implant. I figured the way my dental insurance works, I can pay $600 to the endodontist and another $200 for the crown, it might last a few years before it fails, then I'll be getting a $2000 implant anyway. I'd rather cut to the chase, pay the $2000 for the implant now and never have to worry about it again, than pay $800 now and another $2000 in a few years. Even though it meant missing out on another lovely three hours of gas-induced muzak enjoyment, oh well.

Same here, it's easy to throw away Gurney's catalog, since their plants have failed me in the past. I also have leftover seeds that are still good, and planned on sticking to what I have for this year, BUT! Has anyone ever ordered from "The Living Seed" company? My sister gave me a gift certificate for Christmas, I never heard of them and their website seems to not work very well.
I watched the Bombardment when it first came out. Yeah, that movie will really hit you in the feels.

Nope, just a busy weekend. My son has been keeping to his room. I'm cleaning, sterilizing, and loading up on vitamins. Other than the headache, I'm all good.
