What did you do in the garden today?

Just sowed some pea seeds (and, in a different pot, a couple of romaine seeds):

I transplanted my tomato seedling to larger pots, today. These were started in the Aero garden, several weeks ago - then moved into cells (because that's all I had at the time), and now into these, dollar store pots. They measure 4.5" across. I have 7 more tomato seedlings started in the Aero Garden. After that ~ herbs. I'll start some other things indoors, too. Just in starter mix that I made, myself.
DH has his own AeroGarden started with screaming hot peppers. Yuck 🤢

Our greenhouse kit arrived, but we have to wait for warmer weather and for our sons to come help assemble it. In the meantime ~ I have to use grow lights, inside.

So for two hives... how many pounds of sugar a year, would you guess?

I just read a book on beekeeping, and the author made it sound like he was buying lots of bags of sugar all the time.
In my area we almost NEVER feed them with sugar. We keep them next to plantations.

My first practice tomato graft, I used a young Brad's Atomic Grape with skinny stem and an older pineapple tomato plant with thicker stem. I had to cut the pineapple scion close to the top to match the skinny root stock. I did the one where the root stock is cut down the middle and a tapered scion is inserted into the cut. I think its called a clef graft. My plant is still alive after the first night.

I left the pineapple tomato plant in it's pot to see if it will grow new shoots. Next, I am going to try atomic fusion as the root stock and find something that matches its stem.

I will go to Lowes and buy a heat mat and grow light today, its something I can justify buying.

Good afternoon gardeners. Not much in the garden today, I will be to going out to water the fruit trees a little bit, going to add some neem just to give ‘em a defensive boost before any issues have a chance to start. I have a couple of shrubs that need some sprayed on too. Waiting for the kids to get here, that’ll be my escape. I just topped up the water in the Aerogardens and opened up the house for the afternoon. It’s very pleasant outside with only a light breeze from time to time. We’re supposed to hit the 80’s by Friday, but overnight lows are still a wee chilly to fully open the coop yet. I can’t complain, we didn’t start summer in February this year. Our rain and snowfall totals have been a huge boon and super grateful for that! I have a couple of gardening books coming; one is Hydroponic Food Production and the other is Gardening With Less Water. Can’t wait for those to get here! I heard the kids pull up, going outside for some peace and quiet. Have a good evening all.
