What did you do in the garden today?

I feel like I went around in a circle again with the TYLCV resistant tomato varieties. After reading this experimental study on grafting onto TYLCV resistant root sock, I found out, I already had the best root stock in my collection and it was a free seed packet from Bakers Creek called, Tomato Spoon (Solanum pimpinellifolium).

In conclusion,"Solanum pimpinefolium is considered a tolerant root stock for use in tomato grafting to increase TYLCV tolerance and fruit yield."

Blood on the moon! Blood on the moon Sal! (Sorry, big Practical Magic fan here, lol)

Nice out today. Storm coming this weekend they say. 🙏 for rain.

I need to get some bloodmeal out for the peach tree soon, directions that came with it had me put some in when I planted it & said to add more in the early spring.

Clocks change this weekend!

You should check around and see if maybe someone is interested in putting a hive out there.
My neighbor did. The person she talked to said, "The farmer near you (within 1/4 mi) uses glyphosate. Nope, not putting my bees out there."

So should I not keep bees for that reason? These are big farm fields. He rotates corn, soy and alfalfa.
Youre lucky to be in Michigan, Michigan Beekeepers Association is outstanding! Im a member.
If I get bees, I'll join, for sure!

Luckily there are no crop farms around me... However there is a medical building next door. It's possible they (or anyone in a subdivision within a mile) could use it on occasion. I have signs up facing the road and the medical building. Just in case the city comes through to spray the weeds along the street.

Anyone tried Peruvian wild tomatoes and knows if they’re any good? Also if you can grow them in Israel?
I made a great sign for the thing every Saturday night, where people go and shout about how bad the government is, I will go with my grandma Lea.
My rooster is very vocal, which is actually good for me, because I wake up at seven to do things, he doesn’t shut up until I let them out, and he also calls when he decides it’s time for the flock to go inside and have lunch. 😂

Ah. I wonder if I should give bees a try....? It's just the start up costs are a bit steep.

Like chickens! LOL
It’s bee hive duplicate times, if you get a nice wooden bee keeping box, leave some honey nearby and wait, the bees will come and live there. An old hive is separated into the new queen hive, which is where their old place was, and old queen hive, which is the new place (hopefully your box). The old queen leaves with her subs during spring when the new queen is throned.
