What did you do in the garden today?

We're getting a "wintry mix" tomorrow. Weekend after this, I should be planting my 'maters and peppers in the pots in the green house.

I think I'll plant some potatoes too. I have so many sprouting in the basement, so if I don't see any come up, I'll just replant. I'd have to check when I planted last year, but I think it was mid-April...?

I'll be planting some onion sets too, I think.

Judge by the "shoulders" they are pretty much as fat as the radish gets. I always pull just afew at first and see if I'm happy with them. If not, wait a few more days to pull the rest.

We actually had Internet problems that the Internet company couldn’t explain because of this.

Anyway, I figured I’d chime in. I’m starting to get my garden built for 2023 season. I’m building raised bed tomorrow.

DS helped me put in the sides of two short raised beds. Are are the first two raised rows that we have converted to raised beds. I need to cut 3ft boards for the ends still, but the hard part of hoeing and shoveling dirt is done for these two at least. There's 3 more to go.

The shoulders are the tops of the radishes that stick just out of the dirt.

How do you know if radishes are ready to harvest?

I grow daikon radish, the top part usually grows out of the ground, so I know how fat they are. I start picking mine when they are at a size I can eat.

How do you know if radishes are ready to harvest?

Depends on what type of radish you have, bite radishes are good to eat after 30-40 days, from when they sprouted. If you grow full size radishes, they usually pop out, so you can see the size of them and pull them when they’re ready.
This are the varieties I grow, and how long before they’re ready according to my experience:
Purple plum: 35-40 days
Rosa Östergroß: 55-65 days
Mishiage white: 70-90 days.

I transferred my baby chestnut tree into the ground, hopefully it grows well.
Also, I think I’m going to have litchi this year, yay
