What did you do in the garden today?

My mom passed away today... At least she is no longer suffering but gosh it still hurts.

90 here so I did outside stuff early. My black raspberries have green berries. Except the born free is just now blooming. Thinking it will be ripening later. So early and late season types. Jewel is mid season as is Niwot. Yes I like raspberries.

I didn't do much at all in the garden. The bulk of my day has been spent writing and marketing. I'm just glad to be making some progress there.

I did get my fruit tree fertilizer stakes delivered. I need to start pounding those in everywhere. I just dread the process. I know the stakes will break apart and the plastic caps will last about 3 of them each. I'm thinking of just taking a shovel out and burying them instead of trying to pound them in.

Speaking of pounding, I couldn't even get a pitchfork into the clay of my heavy soil garden. I bounced on it with both feet, and it went in about 1 inch. No rain in the 8 day forecast, either.

We are drier than the great dust bowl era here. Our fields and pastures look like August. The cattle ponds are all gone.
I hand watered the garden, hosed off the hummingbirds and alpacas, and fresh water to all. I need to put out the concrete mixing containers and get them filled for the swallow to drink out of.

Can someone please help me with an ID of some garden pests?

Here is the first one. I found it on one of my radish plants.

Here is the second one, located on one of my potato plants.

I don’t even know if they are harmful pests or beneficial insects. I don’t know how to tell the difference.

Could someone please help me out?

On a sidenote, I harvested two more radishes today.
