What did you do in the garden today?

I was wondering the same thing about the size of her plants. They seem incredibly small...

I wrapped mine with strips from a tshirt that I cut up to make a tshirt rug. It's been very effective so far but was a royal pain to do. I'd rather "paint" it on if that actually works... 😂

I have wrapped my squash with cut up athletic socks, and am tying them to stakes. The sock wrap extends below the soil surface.

They're growing like gangbusters!

I ran out of old socks, now I'm cutting up old t-shirts.

And, yes, that's electrical tape I used to secure the sock wrappings to the plants! :gig

I'm apparently living in the wrong climate. I only have garlic and onion greens, spinach and lettuce producing food. Northern California sucks. We had a thunderstorm today. Chilly morning and sunny afternoon then it just broke loose. Good for my garden but sucks otherwise.
I wish we had a good thunderstorm here. We need it. The retention ponds in our area are the lowest I've seen them. There's land in the middle of ponds that I never saw before - used to be reeds, cattails and lilly pads. Grass is brown. My neighbor decided to water - I don't want to stretch resources further than necessary by watering grass. I do water our garden though.

Our wave of zucchini seems to be tapering off and the wave of cucumbers has begun!

I'm picking 10-15 cucumbers every other day it seems. We made fermented pickles, refrigerator pickles, freeze dried cucumber chips, we use the cucumbers daily in our healthy smoothies, lol, I need to find some good cucumber salad recipes that are acceptable on my husband's limited diet because I'm running out of things to do with them! 😆
I've given a TON away too!
I have a book : the practical produce cookbook. It is organized by vegetable. Under cucumbers, there are the usual things, including pickles. But, the different recipes include: cucumber soup (creamy and non-creamy versions), molded cucumber salad (yes, lime jello is used, along with onion, dill, celery…), sautéed cucumbers, and stir fried cucumbers.

As long as the garden gets watered that's what matters.
