What did you do in the garden today?

I love winter squash, especially during colder months. I could eat one or two a week. I do get tired of zucchini and yellow crooknecks, but I have a freezer and it's nice to have some when there's snow on the ground. And I'm guessing chickens will eat squash too.
I never get tired of Summer squash. I eat a bowl of it for supper every night when it's producing.

Speaking of producing...

First Summer squash of 2023.

That's a good looking planter, I would build a trellis and let them go wild. However, the fruit on the plants I take the suckers off grow bigger and in comparison, the fruit size on the plants I let grow wild are half the size, but there are more of them, so its a toss up.

Well, these cherry tomato plants are supposed to be bush type. So, I am surprised that they are this tall. I don't think I need a trellis. Someone suggested I prune off the lower branches touching the ground, which I did. But I don't know much about pruning suckers. In any case, these are cherry tomatoes, and I would rather have lots of small tomatoes rather than bigger ones.

the reason I plant so many things is to feed chickens/ducks/geese. they eat almost everything.
