What did you do in the garden today?

Some of my seeds are up. Red spinach = red garnet amaranth and Daikon radish. Amaranth yet I pull pig weed a Amaranth family. Sowed some regular spinach for fall harvest. Some cheap seed info purple top turnip and tillage radish ( Daikon ) seed are sold for deer food plots. Cheaper than garden seed. Still using tillage radish seed I bought a pound. The last time I bought turnip food plot seed it was $8 a pound. Another hack is a store bought turnip that has been in refrigeration will grow and set seed biennial. It has gone through a cool perid so it thinks it is second season.

they get freezer burnt anyway. I remember my mother always used vacuum sealer and they got burnt after maybe 6 months.

hot and dry here.
Good to know. I'll try it & see if it at least helps a little. Hopefully.
I think that the butterfly is a "lady" type, can't quite figure out which one.
Looks like a painted lady, maybe?

I wanted a break from all the canning so I weeded, fertilized the entire yard today, that's every flower and vegetable bed on 2 acres of growing space! I'm too old for this kind of break, lol! I did not harvest a single thing, did not even look to see what was ready, didn't want to know if there was even more work to be done. Tomorrow is sifting compost, can harvest more then. The next time I feel like I need a break, I'm going to the water park! Lol

Grrr, I just dropped a whole basket of todays eggs on the kitchen floor & of course I can't bend over to pick them up. I threw a wet towel over them all smashed up till DH gets home. :idunno Not sure what else to do.

So these sweet success cucumbers are the bomb! I found one that needed picked days ago, it was huge, but it still barely had any seeds & tastes fantastic. Wow, these are my new cukes. I'm making cucumbers in sour cream to go with wings tonight - had the egg accident reaching for the salt. :he

My dogs are happy to clean up any eggs I drop on the floor! 😂

My young hen that I will keep for breeding likes to lay her eggs in this feeder. She is kind of heavy and can't or doesn't want to fly up to roost, she sleeps on the ground.

She has yellow legs and her sister that I will also keep for breeding has steel blue legs. They just started laying, so it will be a while before I start breeding them. The yellow leg hen pulled on the cornish x side and the steel blue leg hen pulled on the Breese side. They both are F3, so their babies will be F4.
