What did you do in the garden today?

Raining again today. I've never seen such a rainy start to summer & that is NOT a complaint! We got over 2 inches again today & it's still raining.

I picked a cuke & a bunch of green beans. I blanched them & will freeze them.

Does anyone have any good ideas about putting up green beans for the winter? Normally I blanch & freeze in ziplock baggies. Just wondering if maybe vacuum sealing would be better. Or cutting them up, then vacuuming? What do y'all do? Canning is out for me at this point, hopefully later in the summer.
I blanch and vacuum seal -you can then boil in bag which frees up the microwave, and doesn’t dirty a pan (just boiling water).

I bought DH a new toy. 😂 Suddenly the 4 ft tall brush pile that's been sitting next to the driveway for a year is suddenly GONE! 😂❤️

I cut, blanch, freeze on a tray, and vacuum seal.

Are your tomato and squash beds close to the clippings? I've used them as mulch in the past. This year they wind up in the chicken run.
Done! I also did a little pruning on the indeterminate tomatoes and tied the new growth to the rope. The two Oregon Spring determinate tomatoes in the center of the first pic needed another string tied around them too.

I've never heard of a Crocosmia. Looking forward to seeing the blooms.

I have a DR chipper too and I love mine!
Boys and their toys…
and girls... :)
That'll make a lot of great bedding for your chicken coop and run. And garden mulch. And compost. Good investment!
It is amazing how much brush turns into a small pile of chips! It's roughly 20:1. What takes the longest amount of time? Getting all the brush in a pile. The chipping goes pretty fast.
I want one so much. Jealous..
I figure it's one of our "forever" tools. It better be at $950...
