What did you do in the garden today?

Today was sooooooo hot. Over 120 degrees with the heat index. At 7:30 this evening, it's still 113 degrees. I have tomatoes to pick... I keep telling myself "do you REALLY need to pick them tonight???" :thOf course I will have to go outside eventually because I let all the animals out to free range all day. They have some shade in their pens but I figure there's shadier and cooler places around the pasture, pond, and barn that they appreciate access to in weather like this. Mostly they put themselves back in at night but I have to close up the pens.

OK, I picked up my bootstraps and picked SOME tomatoes. Still have more to gather but I was sweating too much. I'll get the rest in the morning.

If a normal toilet plunger does not clear the clog, I use a toilet drain auger like this...

I also have a 25-foot-long auger that attaches to a drill. I think I like even better. If you have problems with clogged toilets, you might want to invest in something like this from Harbor Freight...

Also, let me mention, that I think those water saver toilets seem to clog up very easily. Nothing wrong with giving yourself a courtesy flush after you do your business but before you wipe and toss in the toilet paper.

Not much about gardening in this post, but maybe your son and his family will have more time to enjoy your outside gardens if they are not queued up inside all trying to use 1 bathroom!
Thanks, I do have one of those things ( for cleaning out the drainpipes on our roof) , and it has to do something with the garden, cos if we’re 8 people with 1 toilet, in an emergency, somebody would have to go to the garden 😳

I was gonna say the same thing. 😁

I took a bunch of pics cuz I love when peeps post pics:

My green bean trellis is doing great (don't mind the cardboard, I need to get wood chips in there this weekend, weeds are out of control):

My peach tree has grown so much, can't wait for peaches. Going to have to youtube how to prune that sucker for sure:

Those purple “flowers” look like a kind of rucola to me, if it is, the flowers are edible

Have them pee by the tomato plants. It’s supposed to be good for the plants!

I made it out to the church garden. Picked a few jalapeños , a few Cheyenne peppers, 2 green peppers and 4 or 5 tomatoes ( slicers!). Planted more green bean seeds in an effort to get some green beans this year and planted a few cucumber seeds because my couple of cucumber plants died. 😞
Update in my son:
I went to see Charlie today. While I was there the social worker came to tell him that he is "too good for inpatient rehab". So they are going to send him home to my house and he is going to do a day program rehab for a few months and then switch to 1 or 2 hours a day 3 days a week. The social worker said he will need rehab for a long time in order to avoid having to have more surgeries. In the day program they will pick him up in the morning, take him to the place, work with him on things like cooking, cleaning, daily living skills adjusting for his new limitations, he would eat lunch there, do more PT and OT after lunch and then they would bring him back home. Monday through Friday.
