That's how it gets you. It draws you in with the shiny little red berry, and when you get close enough to really look at the oddity, ZAP, the plant eats you.Today I cut down a small tree, took the log, and inoculated it with mushroom plugs.
Here are two of the logs. Supposedly I will get mushroom in half a year or longer...View attachment 3655133
Then I noticed I have this single red berry on my asparagus plant!

I just looked up asparagus berries and they are toxic. Is this what you mean? That's how it gets you. It draws you in with the shiny little red berry, and when you get close enough to really look at the oddity, ZAP, the plant eats you.
Asparagus, eh......crazy.
I was thinking more like Little Shop of Horrors, killer plant from outer space.I just looked up asparagus berries and they are toxic. Is this what you mean?
What is a luffa?39 is the forecast for tonight. I have to go pick my luffa. Yes, as in one. There are 3 more on the plant, but I doubt they're of any size (girth) to be useful. But I could be wrong. They're still dark green, so these may be a total bust anyway.
I need to get the soon-to-be garlic and potato onion beds ready. My new seed garlic arrived yesterday. I should have done the beds by now, but there were other things that needed to be done, so I let that project slide.
And, I need to dig the potatoes.
I feel you, after my father died, we had to empty the house too, also 350 km away from where I now live, my parents “collected” stuff, they are not the only ones, I also have trouble throwing away stuff that isn’t brokenI am 40 pages behind... Not likely to go back and read everything I missed. Hope everyone is doing well in my absence!
I've been busy trying to get my mom's house cleaned out & sold, business trips, and getting my own house in order. I have a CRAP TON of iris bulbs from my mom's house. Still trying to find places to plant them. I forgot about and then later found a box of Dahlia bulbs, freesia bulbs, and ranunculus corms from a couple of months ago. They were pretty dried out and shriveled. I soaked them in some water for 30-60 minutes. I really hope they survive...
In the process of making some changes in the garden to remove all the tire beds and replace them with self watering raised beds. Also built a platform to move my strawberry barrels onto so I have better weed control around them and they get more consistent sunlight.
Repotted my goji berries (started in the spring but still REALLY small). Finally got around to transplanting my crepe myrtle and gooseberries in the ground.
