What did you do in the garden today?

My bee hive was completely empty of bees a few weeks ago when I went to feed them.
I'm sorry to hear that! Any clues to what happened?

Will you take the boxes and frames away to keep them safe from robbing and mice?

This was a topic at the last bee meeting. Someone talked about a freezer that he uses to store the frames after extraction. No worries that bees or mice will find them. He takes them out in the spring to warm up, and then puts them back in his hives. Lots of drawn comb for the ladies to start working with.
The first night I got there we went to the grocery store & I swear I could not understand a single bit of what the girl working the register said to me. Even after she repeated herself.
I know what you mean! I find regional accents fascinating. And regional words and phrases. I think of it as interesting, like different cuisine. I see it as enriching, not divisive.

I agree! I have a very good friend from SC & I absolutely love to hear her speak. Her accent sounds beautiful to me - though it annoys her that I say she has an accent. :lau & the differences in words in our own county are fascinating to me. Like we have grinders here (subs, hoagies) & we call liquor stores 'the packy' or package stores. I love that stuff! I remember trying to order a Boston Creme donut in CA, lol. Nope, no such thing. LOL

I remember the first time I went down south - I volunteered with the Red Cross in Louisiana after hurricane Katrina. The first night I got there we went to the grocery store & I swear I could not understand a single bit of what the girl working the register said to me. Even after she repeated herself. But anyway, I had NO clue what all y'all meant. Y'all is not something I'd ever heard before, except on tv maybe. & then never all y'all! It was all confusing to this northerner. Now I say y'all all the time, it's so much better than the 'you guys' that we use up here. Though I'm still not sure I would use all y'all correctly. :lau
Mayhap you would :)

Brrr the cold begins. Quite a shock after some lows in the 60s. 38 here and 21 predicted Monday morning. Gardening is done for this year. Lots of leaves on the ground and the freeze will knock a lot more down.
23 for hours on end last night.
Currently feels like 17F
Glad my hiney isn't parked on a metal football stand seat today :D Snow flakes and sleet fly later.

Hubby is from Pittsburgh. When he first came to Michigan, people told him he had an accent. He didn't think so. When we go to visit PGH, he says, after living here for 40+ years, he has to agree. People in PGH do have an accent. :)
My mom, from the Harrisburg area, used to be able to listen to a Keystone Stater and peg within 50 miles of where they were from. Sadly, accents are slowly dying out, thanks to our traveling and resettling populations. Regional accents are still there to a degree, but localized ones are becoming more and more scarce.

That takes a keen ear and lots of knowledge. What a cool skill to have. Or have had.

I’m not sure what happened to them. I hadn’t been checking on them as often as I should have ( life got in the way). We usually have pretty cold winters so I will probably just unstuck them all, and leave them outside over the winter. I haven’t had problems with mice ( yet in the past) but now you have me worried.🤣
I’d like to put at least a few frames in the freezer because I see a little bit of silk moth damage and I don’t want that the spread but I don’t know if I have even enough room for 2 or 3 frames to fit in the freezer .

I've heard of people extracting whatever honey they could, and then letting the chickens pick the frame clean.
