What did you do in the garden today?

I built another earth box, this time I will plant two Hossinater tomato plants near to one side and I poured in 2 lbs of Dr, Earth Tomato fertilizer on the other side. I mixed in a cup of Espoma dolomite lime, since it's on the earth box approved list. I am waiting for my Hossinater plants to get a little bigger before plugging them in.

I filled this box with Pro Mix which is basically a mix of peat, perlite, calcium carbonate, dolomite lime and mycorrhizae.

This earth box holds 4-gallons of water.

Pulled up the tomato plants. Picked all the tomatoes and pulled whatever pepper plants that didn't have peppers on them. Talking about accents, I was born in NC, only lived there 8 months. I still have a accent. A woman told my husband she liked his accent and asked where he was from? He told her CA born and raised. After he told me about it all I could say is you're welcome. LOL 😂

Accent are fascinating. I came a YT video a while ago about the Great Vowel Shift that occurred in Europe a number of hundred years ago. Truly fascinating since globalization at that point was nothing near what we’re working with today. Lol, on a shorter timescale, my grandmother moved west in the early 1940s, having been raised in Arkansas and Oklahoma, and I remember her telling me about her swift learning of how to say certain words, “boulevard” stands out as one of her examples.

Sunny, cold and dry over here, and didn’t have too much pressing in the garden. I did scatter cayenne and chili flakes on the outskirts of the chicken run. Saw critters exploring last night on the cam so I’m curious to see how they respond to this tonight. We’re going to get out Rat Zappers back up and running, for sure.

One-gallon pots, they were struggling, hardly any roots. I have 4 more in 2 gallon pots, that needs to be transplanted.
I did a lot of reading from different sites after I got a couple of tops to root. I now have 7 pineapple plants going. Mine are 2 yrs old. I just transplanted them into 5 gallon buckets. From the site I linked below, it indicates that they need 3 - 5 gallon containers at a minimum. Since you put yours in the ground, they are likely to take off now that they have more room. Give them another year...

The site also says that plants can take several years to reach maturity. I've seen 3 - 5 yrs typically. I've also seen growers on YouTube who claim a pup/sucker can fruit in the first year with the right conditions.

I can buy them at my local nursery with a 4inch pineapple fruit growing on top, but I would rather buy a pineapple at my supermarket for what they are asking for them.

I have grown all of mine from store bought pineapple. I have never paid for a pineapple plant...

Anyway, you can make your own decisions on the best use of your garden space. I'm just saying that your plants are likely to better now that they have more space for their roots. And that 3 yrs is typical for it to mature enough to flower and fruit.

Stringing up some of the Cheyenne peppers that I picked the other day. I have a bunch of green ones too because I picked everything to beat this cold front. Our high on Friday was 85. Saturday the high was 47.we have a freeze warning until Monday morning. Today’s high is supposed to be 49 and the low is predicted to be 39 today and then dropping down to 25 and 23 for Tuesday and Wednesday. We also had a lot of rain on Saturday with more predicted for the next few days.

I cannot decide what I like best, your peppers or your curtains.
