What did you do in the garden today?

Hanging laundry on the line was as close to the great outdoors as I managed today (besides trying to catch alpacas to put a coat on one, failed at that.)

Rescued an almost 90 year old quilt from the local charity shop. It was stained, but nothing an oxiclean soak and a run through the delicate cycle with some persil didn't manage. Then out to the line it went. It has a couple tiny places that need stitched as it was obviously hand sewn. I can manage that this winter at the same time I have it sitting on my lap, keeping me warm. HA!

That's a nice looking quilt! How did you determine its age?

We're having a freeze tonight, so after I got home from work I picked all the sweet peppers and tomatoes I could find:

And basil:

Leaves removed from stems and rinsed:

Found a hitcher:

Rinsed leaves will be used in a couple days, maybe I'll make some pesto!

Beautiful! Do you know the name of that pattern?

I rescued this one several years ago but have no idea of its age. Someone brought the cover in to our church's community services center where we give away clothing and simple handmade quilts. We also sell quilts as fund raisers. One of our quilting ladies added batting and a back and hand quilted it together, you can see the rainbow pattern she stitches, then I bought it. I think it's queen size, it's on my wall. I love the butterflies and the detail work. I don't quilt but I admire those who do.

Leon grows determinate plants on the barrel and let them hang over. Have you tried this?
Good morning. I'm hoping to try something similar but not with a large variety like he has. The kratky out front and one in the yard I believe might have the cherry varieties or at least I hope. The big tomato in one of the barrels looks like it's starting to flower up. I have hope for it but I reckon the rats do as well.
