What did you do in the garden today?

I want to redo my self-watering kratky buckets that is fed from a 5-gallon float valve and 5-gallon reservoir. I will adjust the Master Blend fertilizer solution level to 2 inches and put another bucket with drain holes and a wicking net cup on top of the self-watering buckets and fill it with an inert 75% coco and 25% perlite mix.

I think this set up will work better for me. It's similar to a Dutch bucket without electricity.

hen my husband said he wanted to remodel our bathroom I told him good then I can finally get rid of that filthy nasty tub. Now we have a shower only and I love it.
We really want to redo our bathroom. I hate the tub; might have used it once in 29+ years. Shower stall only, but big enough to put a seat in there if we need it in the coming years.
The reason store honey is so much sweeter is because it is often cut with sugar. Processed sugar.
A neighbor told me she got a jug of "Wildflower Honey" from Costco that had a liquid in it that was a different viscosity, swirling around. She heard online(?) that they had cut it with high fructose corn syrup.

I'm only buying honey from beekeepers until I get some from my own girls. Last year, I bought it from a local orchard. This year, I'm getting it from Ed, my "bee guy."

The HFCS also keeps it from crystalizing. What's the fun in that?!

I got my first seed catalog yesterday, High Mowing. Organically produced seed, but lots are hybrids. I marked a lot of OP (open pollinated) and heirloom items, but I'll compare them with Baker Creek for price. Both offer free shipping.

I really like to order from Sow True Seed and Seed Savers Exchange, even though they charge for shipping.

On my list are more flowers for my bees, but I'm going to double check that honeybees like the particular flowers. I planted bee balm, and never saw any of my bees on the blossoms. A very knowledgeable beekeeper told me that bee balm flowers have too long of a "throat" for honeybees. So they were for the bumblebees. And, unfortunately, the yellow jackets! Nope, not planting them next year.

I planted a patch of early spring bulbs for the honeybees. That side is the "Bee Garden."

I'm allergic to corn. When corn is added but not disclosed, and I eat it, it makes me sick.

I'm thinking of buying from the Amish/Mennonites in the area.

They just had their 3rd chance in chat. All done with Chewy! It wasn't even a shipping problem, it was their warehouse.

(I come from a long line of stubborn Polish women :lau )
I had my dog's food on repeat delivery with Chewy. I'd just received a 30lb bag when the vet told me to switch to a different formula. I contacted Chewy and told them what happened, and asked how I could return it. The rep told me not to worry, to just donate it to a rescue or shelter. Wow.

I thought there was a newer regulation that said that anything but pure honey in the jar had to disclose what else was in there.
If they add HFCS they have to say so.
I swear there is a MAJOR honey supplier here locally that started really small mom and pop style but now his honey is EVERYWHERE in huge quantities. I swear it's either NOT local honey anymore, or he's getting it in 50 gallon drums and relabeling it, OR he's cutting it with a lot of HFCS. The amount he's putting out, he'd have to have hundreds of hives EVERYWHERE and we've been in extreme drought for 2 years, and record winters. Local keepers have all lost 80% of their hives...except him apparently.
