What did you do in the garden today?

I just read wasabi plants need full shade. 🤔 & they are very persnickety - they need the perfect amount of good water with good drainage, they need 50-60 degrees...sounds like a PITA, honestly.

Has anyone here grown it?
Nope... I have a free seed packet too but never grew it. Seems like it would be too hot here unless I grew them in the winter

Well, the only thing I actually got done today was get the Granny Smith apple tree planted. I chucked some chopped up crawdad shells in the hole (saved & frozen from our last boil). I also gave it some Orchard fertilizer (45-0-0). Hoping I didn't overload it. Put down 2 layers of weed barrier around it and a full bag of mulch. 🤞 Hopefully this one lives this time around!

I need to clear out the brush in the area where I want to plant the Mulberry. I need oil for my new mini-chainsaw since DH was out. So I won't get to plant it until tomorrow afternoon.

I went ahead and put the cauliflower & broccoli starts outside for the day today. I started them in coconut coir in net pots. Lots of roots growing out the bottom of the net pots. Since evenings will be above 50 degrees, I'm going to go ahead and transplant them outside tomorrow afternoon.

G’morning gardeners. I have a tiny tomato on one of the plants and lots of flowers on a couple. Going to take off the covers today and hope the teenager finds the bird netting in the shed. Neither of the basil plants survived transplant, but the rest looks good so far. I also need to put a cage in for one of the toms, it’s falling over. The white sage plant is really happy where I used to keep the Spanish lavender next to the rosemary. It’s putting leaves on nicely and the chickens are keeping the weeds down in there. We have a Harris’s hawk couple living in a tree not far away and I had trimmed the trees back a lot this year so the shade garden is cover until those trees grow back some. Attila is broody, but if she doesn’t have chicks by tomorrow I’m going to buy a couple from the feed store and hope she will love them. Off to the park with the pups, have a great day!
