What did you do in the garden today?

Another rainy day, no gardening.

I was cleaning up my iPad, deleting duplicate photos and found a photo of my backyard from April 2022 when I started vegetable gardening again using raised beds.

I now have five raised beds, two still being prepared.

In the 2022 photo the raised beds were not quite ready for planting. The carpet is covering where trees were removed. The little square planters are fairly worthless, and were full of fire ants. I might reuse them for very shallow annuals or vegetables like lettuce.

Well we started winter disaster zone cleanup and repair, we decided the chicken coop and pens take priority. So we broke down the largest of the three damaged coops, built a new Run/Pen. Tomorrow we plan to break down the medium coop and build a new medium coop and build a larger second Run/Pen… then we will get the damaged security and privacy screening torn out and replaced, build nesting boxes, roosts, add automatic waters, and feeders in. Once chickens are 100% contained then we can start repairing all planting beds, broken yard fencing, watering systems, digging up and cutting down severely damaged trees and hacking back jungle brambles. Not to mention power washing stuff. Wish us luck. We gots a lot to do.
