What did you do in the garden today?

When I cut out wheat my joints quit waking me up.

They're Supposed to all be hens, but we all know how that goes 😆 🤣 😂
I have a soft spot in my heart for Roosters. No, I certainly do not need more, but I did just lose my oldest & most personality filled Roo, my ornery but lovable Rocky, just a few days ago.

RIP Rocky, we will never forget you ❤️

Giving up wheat is not easy. I got the Pepperage Farm Sourdough bread, but I cannot just give up bread, or pasta or pizza. I do not eat them daily, but yeah, I know I should eat less of them. I'm down to once a week, so less than before.

I have finite closet space. :)
Minimal closets, totally missing a coat closet...I mean Who designed this pathetic house? No attic, no basement, no pantry, no garage. I had to have a garage built & I currently have sheds for storage. It's true we use some stuff seasonally, but mostly we really do wear 20% of our clothing (our favs or weather/work appropriate) 80% of the time. I'm usually in work clothes, chicken clothes, gardening clothes or cozy house clothes. I'm going to donate a ton of clothes that I won't be wearing, some never ever worn. Stuff has gotta go! Make more room for bird & gardening related stuff! 👍

G'morning gardeners. We had rain and cool temps a couple days ago. Today it's supposed to be 82 and sunny. Not doing anything outside until the weekend, hoping my hand will heal up a bit before then. The teenager came up with some excuse to get out of school today, so he's going to do some weeding out front for me today before we get a nasty gram from the city. It's supposed to be almost 90 here, then drop back into the 70's over the weekend. Each time we get a warm spell it's just a little bit warmer than the last. So far I haven't turned on the A/C, hoping I can get by a little longer with that.

I empathize. I have 10 roosters and can't seem to part with any of them. We typically butcher the extras every fall... It breaks my heart every time. My oldest roo is only 4 yrs old though. I'll bawl like a baby whenever he passes.

Same here. But there was a pantry… not well designed. Imagine a space for a closet/pantry. It is wide, and deep enough. Now place fridge in one half, then put a door frame on other side. Yes, that’s right, no wall to separate the pantry from the fridge…just a door frame. Now install four wire shelves for the pantry. 🙄. When we moved in, we gutted it, added a wall to separate (after removing a few unopened random pantry items that had fallen behind the old fridge) put in more solid shelves for much better pantry storage. Definitely better. It’s not quite deep enough for the fridge, but we might adjust that at a different time -such as when we decide to re-do the kitchen.

I wish I could enforce that rule in hubby's closet. He has stuff that A) doesn't fit; B) he never wears; and C) was his uncles(?), that he has "for sentimental reasons."
I can relate. My husband is a hoarder in my opinion and I am very much not. Makes for a frustrating time on occasion.

I'd like to either gut & remodel this place or move 🤣

It's funny how much I was Gung ho to do anything in my youth & after cancer & caring for loved ones dying of cancer took the wind right outta my sails. I know what I'd like to do, remodel this house, have a room just for growing seeds, painting, art & crafts & sewing. I am also wondering about moving to a nicer climate, longer growing warm season. Seems like we go right from winter to summer with barely a spring here. I really miss a spring gardening season! I'd love a less humid region, but then I don't exactly want to be in a desert either. Fire Ants & being on the migratory hawk flight path, then really all of the development booming, changing this rural area into a city like place...that is really the Big disappointment that's got this pair of ole goats thinking of moving. I've heard some good things about Arkansas, so I've been researching the state. I know it is humid there, but probably less than southern Delaware. My flock is my heart, gardening & the land are my joy, so an area for those is essential.
