What did you do in the garden today?

Same here. But there was a pantry… not well designed. Imagine a space for a closet/pantry. It is wide, and deep enough. Now place fridge in one half, then put a door frame on other side. Yes, that’s right, no wall to separate the pantry from the fridge…just a door frame. Now install four wire shelves for the pantry. 🙄. When we moved in, we gutted it, added a wall to separate (after removing a few unopened random pantry items that had fallen behind the old fridge) put in more solid shelves for much better pantry storage. Definitely better. It’s not quite deep enough for the fridge, but we might adjust that at a different time -such as when we decide to re-do the kitchen.

I'd like to either gut & remodel this place or move 🤣
Me too! our pantry has a standard door, but the shelves extend behind the wall and there's no light in there.I think it was a coat closet and someone turned it into a pantry. Stupidest design ever.

I hear ya...at least once a week I say to DH...what a stupid design this house is!!! I envision ripping out walls!!! 🤣 Better not hand me a sledgehammer on a day I don't ache so bad.

It's funny how much I was Gung ho to do anything in my youth & after cancer & caring for loved ones dying of cancer took the wind right outta my sails. I know what I'd like to do, remodel this house, have a room just for growing seeds, painting, art & crafts & sewing. I am also wondering about moving to a nicer climate, longer growing warm season. Seems like we go right from winter to summer with barely a spring here. I really miss a spring gardening season! I'd love a less humid region, but then I don't exactly want to be in a desert either. Fire Ants & being on the migratory hawk flight path, then really all of the development booming, changing this rural area into a city like place...that is really the Big disappointment that's got this pair of ole goats thinking of moving. I've heard some good things about Arkansas, so I've been researching the state. I know it is humid there, but probably less than southern Delaware. My flock is my heart, gardening & the land are my joy, so an area for those is essential.
Shhhh.... Arkansas is a hidden gem. Beautiful landscape. Lots of rain (usually) to maintain a good garden. Low taxes and cost of living. My parents moved here from the north since they came to realize we were not going to move back to our home state. They loved it...especially with both of them being retired and on a fixed budget. It allowed them to live comfortably just on social security.

Indoors today, planting seeds in starter trays, hard boiling & pickling eggs. I'm off work today.

So here we go...Rain Again! Coming down rather heavy this morning. It started at 3am & we've got 3 days of it. Tuesday will be rough, they're calling it a red alert, with wind, hail & perhaps tornado warnings. It warmed up last night, as I was putting the tiller & mower away (yes we got a filter at Auto Zone on Easter Sunday & changed the oil yesterday, too). So I see the winds will shift, SE to NE, so when that colder air meets warm air, I get weather anxiety. 2 tornadoes 🌪 have blown right through here over the past few years & it is scary. All of this heavy rain & flooding are one thing, tornadoes are another. 😱

On a positive note, the blueberry plants are looking gorgeous with blooms. If the wind & hail do not decimate them, it will be a bountiful blueberry year. 💙

This little guy was outside my bedroom window, singing a sweet song. He & his mate are building a nest in a thick pine shrub. They're House sparrows. We have Purple Finches in this region, too, kinda hard to differentiate at 1st glance. (Forgive the window glare, I didn't want to disturb them just for the sake of an outside pic.)

In mythology and folklore, the house finch is often associated with love, happiness, and good luck. This bird has been a symbol of vitality and passion in various cultures around the world. ❤️
Naturalist and artist Roger Tory Peterson said Purple finches look like a sparrow dipped in raspberry juice! I've used that description at times when I am trying to identify finches.

I wish I could enforce that rule in hubby's closet. He has stuff that A) doesn't fit; B) he never wears; and C) was his uncles(?), that he has "for sentimental reasons."
This is totally the same for my husband... Except not his uncle, his dad's clothes... They're almost the same size and build.

My husband has a full chest of drawers, half of my dresser, more than half of our closet and 1/4 of the closet in the office... Plus the shoes, plus the coats.... 🤔 I thought us women were supposed to have all the clothes. 😂

Rain coming around 1 pm. Forecast now includes Wednesday rain. I need to setup my rain stock tanks. I am a fan of mosquito dunks. I used to use fish in the tanks. I plan to go back to that this year. Mosquito fish in one and Rosey minnows in the other one.
I have fathead minnows in my little ponds (100g). Bullfrogs have wiped out my goldfish on several occasions, but enough minnows survive to breed and replenish my mosquito controls!

Mine doesn’t have wire shelves, but the ones that are there are only half the depth of the cupboards. In practice this means not only do I only have half the amount of shelf space I ‘should’ have, but I also can’t fit some of the taller appliances because the half shelf takes up too much space vertically for them to fit. Some day I’m going to redo the kitchen and get nice roll-out shelves.

I can't believe it. My jasmine plant is ALIVE! It was supposed to only be good to 0'F, and we were down to -20F for three nights in a row and never above 0'F for 7 days. It's not in a sheltered location or anything. Mercy, that's one tough plant.
I had a jasmine that eventually died because I pruned it too severely. The friend who gave me a small seedling off her plant let me know that jasmine tend to be a slow grower at first. She said "First they sleep, then they creep, and finally they leap!"
