What did you do in the garden today?

Wow, sure is! Are they just coming out of hibernation in your area?
Yep. First sighting of the year. All the neighbors feed him endless seed - hopefully he'll stay away from the chickens. :lau

I don't really have house plants either. I'm too old & tired to grow anything that doesn't feed me or give the bees food. 😆 My overwintering herbs are my house plants!

I only started with 2 plants in my teens. Then they multiplied. Then I inherited quite a few. I've given away so many, yet still have so many, go figure.

Today has turned into a total washout. We’ve got over an inch and a half of rain and it’s still raining off and on now. I did manage a walk on the back slope and am excited about what I found. Three blueberry bushes, three grape vines and my little pear tree are developing leaves. In the front yard my daffodils are getting ready to bloom, the BES are greening up, the peach tree is getting ready to blossom soon. My purple azalea is also getting ready to bloom. The ground is so saturated. In the backyard and the little chicken yard there are still deep puddles of rain water. There are places where you can feel and hear the suctioning of your boots when you walk. The chicken run is really wet as well. I’m thinking I could make a raft out of pallet wood. Lol! It could come in handy.

I'm working on my raised beds, topping them off with compost and dirt.

I had a brainstorm: took off the top plank on the raised beds, which made it SO much easier to dump the compost and dirt into the bed!

Making progress. I'm hoping to get another load in each bed before the end of the day, or the end of my energy...

A local meteorologist was commenting (social media) about how much rain we’ve had in the area. It varies, but I’m around 7-7.5” accumulation so far, and it’s only April 12. I’m tired of rain.

Oh, and Ohio has had 30 tornadoes this year already. I think we beat Kansas and such this season, so far….

I believe it. Last year I think our rainfall total was around 10 feet. So much sky water. This year is starting out the same. I have to delay planting until it dries out a bit. I may have to replant the few things I already planted. At least we haven’t had tornadoes @Acre4Me.
