What did you do in the garden today?

I don't know why I had that awful reaction to DiGiorno pizza, whether it was packaged that way, or it could've been a nasty brand of pepperoni, did the cook add additional topping with msg, no clue. It made me very ill. I have not even gone near a frozen pizza since then.

I have reactions to pvc, petroleum fumes, ammonia & probably other things as well, from hives to breathing difficulties to just violently ill. Weird, huh.
I am not allergic to anything... Except msg apparently. Discovered that after visiting an authentic Chinese restaurant. Food was outstanding but halfway through the meal, my face started to go numb. Weirdest feeling I've ever experienced but I didn't attribute it to the food until my next visit to the same restaurant a few months later. Same thing happened... The only thing in that food that was different was the msg.

I have a bunch of little bugs that kinda resemble a baby grasshopper but without the legs,(little jerks bite), and also there's some white butterflies I think are eating mine too.
Ive noticed my property being invaded by tiny grasshoppers. They are no bigger than a thumbnail. I've never seen them around here before... This is something entirely new. I need to treat them with some spinosad but have to wait for the rain to stop first...

Have gotten most of my seeds planted but it's hot and our water is being an aggravating pain in the back side. I now have 2 blueberry bushes. When I bought the 2nd one I also bought 3 bags of potting soil and the lady at the nursery gave me some free tomato and watermelon plants. I got 3 of 4 different types of melons and 3 of 2 different types of tomatoes. It's too hot for me to go outside right now but later I will get some pictures posted of the garden. It's not as put together or pretty as some of y'all's but it's a garden.😁

I saved zinnia seeds from last year's flowers. They germinated, but I have no idea what the blossoms will look like. Hopefully they'll be the same as the parent plant.

I saved marigold seeds too.

Marigolds self sow here. I leave the dead plants in the ground after a killing frost, and what the birds don't eat, grows the next Spring. I don't mind.

Early walk around before work, I saw a welcome visitor. I figure my place must be healthy if this little dude visits. I moved him to the direction he was headed, the wildflower garden. Shell blends right in with yellow flowers.

I see this weed growing & I don't really mind it. Reminds me of Baby's Breath but it isn't that, the stems are short.

Box turtles are declining here, so I am happy whenever I see one in the yard. They don't breed for several years, and easily get killed by cars, so their lowered population is understandable.

I think the plant with white flowers is chickweed.

Recently read in a tulip catalog that some varieties are better at coming back. Some produce too many baby bulbs, which robs the original bulb and then they peter out. Darwins are supposed to be better at it, but your experience proves otherwise in your area and garden. Squirrels are bulb poachers. I'm trying tulips this year in pots. My master gardener friend said to dig them up every year. I'm not sure on the timing of that. I'll have to get more info.
I read to prevent squirrels from digging up your tulips put a small section of chicken wire on top of the soil after planting. The tulip leaves will grow through the fencing openings, but squirrels can't dig through. I've never tried it but it makes sense.
