What did you do in the garden today?

Can Cucurbita moschata pollinate/cross Cucurbita pepo (& vice versa)? Google isn't giving me a lot of confidence.

So behind after being away for the weekend. We had lots of tornado watches & even a warning. 3.5 inches of rain. It was hot, nasty, humid at home but cold & rainy in NH where we were. We left early because of the tornado warnings, but had a great time. I heard we had hail at home but my garden is completely fine. Lost power last night so had to fire up the generator, too hot to sleep without the ac.

I have beans to pick today. Yay! Itty bitty tomatoes. Male flowers on the spaghetti squash, won't be long till female.
It will not produce viable seed. It may set fruit that has paper thin seeds. If you are concerned for seed saving you are safe.

Has anyone tried to break records w their fruit and veggies?
I was watching video of a man raise a mammoth pumpkin! Was thinking of next year 🤔 w the butternut
Check out the veggies grown in the Matanuska Valley in Alaska! There are some crazy sized ones at the Alaska State Fair, each year. Their extra long summer days can really make a difference! 🤯

This turning out to be a very good day. I pulled out of my driveway to run an errand but stopped to look at my big apple tree. This is like a “Where’s Waldo picture” but I spotted at least 1/2 dozen apples developing on that tree. Only thing I did different was to put pellet stove ash at the base.

I saw a male blossom on one of my zucchini plants. Yay!

I picked 3 not-quite-ripe black raspberries, just because I couldn't help myself.

I also dug out 5 buckets of weeds. The rain sure made it easier to pull them. We're going to get some more rain tonight/tomorrow, so maybe I can pull some more.
