What did you do in the garden today?

I spent an hour weeding the San Marzano tomato bed then covering both tomato beds and the butternut squash bed with the EZ straw. I finally restocked on Espoma vegetable fertilizer and Berry tone. Thanks to Amazon. Every other store that sells it has been out for a while. I need to put berry tone on strawberries sometime today. We’re supposed to get .6 inch of rain late night

Why do you think the Chinese government would care what we do? We aren’t important people. TikTok is one thing, there’s a way influence public opinion because people are stupid, but Temu?
Chinese government monitors everybody just in case they can use the information. For example, if they found you know any sensitive information or technique secrets, they will attack your computer to steal it. If you worked for US government or any organization that they dislike, they could kidnap you if they want. As other people mentioned, they will steal your credit card too or sale your information to make money. Never underestimate how evil these governments could be. Don't get me wrong, I know US government monitor people too, but I don't need to worry about getting arrested just because I dislike Mr. Brandon.

I feel like Temu is low hanging fruit. Most high ranking government officials they want to hack aren’t going to be ordering from Temu. Those officials shouldn’t be allowed to use personal cell phones for government purposes. They also shouldn’t download any apps to their work computers or phones, or send any info from those devices to personal ones and vice versa. That’s common sense, but apparently it’s not very common.

I concluded that the tea cloth I used to line my banneton basket worked better than the plastic film coated with oil. Moisture accumulates around the plastic film whereas the moisture gets absorbed by the tea cloth, so I get a firmer dough and it doesn't stick on a rice floured dough.

I am still working on getting an ear with what I have. I am using a round pizza stone, and I am covering my dough with a stainless-steel mixing bowl. I will try making a deeper expansion score after 7 minutes tomorrow........... :wee

Thank you, Sue. I did also wash it and some of the outer layer came off. But I did think it didn't look full enough. I appreciate your advice!
I wait until 5 leaves are dead or dieing, depending on weather.
https://savvygardening.com/when-to-... know garlic is,bacteria help it to decompose.

I store cured and have found they keep better with roots and leaves left on. Washing caused mold on mine.
I don't freeze unless absolutely necessary in Feb before they start going soft or sprouting.
The fresh cut garlic have different health benefits than dried, frozen or pickled.

Yes, I think so. The paper doesn't look dry at all (but that doesn't matter if you're not drying). I think they can get bigger for you.

Thanks. You're reviews are the reason I went with Superb. I ordered online & was happy with the price (120 regular mouth for $37). I've used what I think are probably Superb, but without a name. Big, thick blue seals that literally THONK when they seal & have been very happy with them. I got them at Leighmans (sp) during COVID.
Yes, Lehmans of Ohio carries the generic ones. That's the ones I get here too.

I learned a lot from the article from nih.gov you posted. Thanks!

Another thing I've read is that garlic plants shouldn't be watered for the last couple of weeks before harvesting. That's where my garlic is now. I harvested all the scapes last week, and now the tips of the leaves are all starting to turn brown. I'll dig it all up in a week or two.

My soil is best for growing weeds. Our grass, even with daily watering it got destroyed by the weeds. It's completely crazy. I'm ready to dig up the entire front yard and start from scratch.
Same here. No matter where I dig, I find Ball Grass 😠 or Nutsedge. EVERYWHERE!

Thank you. I'll check out the link. Freeze-drying retains more flavor and nutrients than other preservation techniques- and is really great for me, as I have a small home and not a lot of space for curing and storage.
We have had lots and lots of rain, this summer. I'll keep an eye out for 5 dead or dying leaves
