What did you do in the garden today?

Mine is Stowel evergreen.

I may have also planted too close together. Would it change anything if I thinned them? Cut them at the base or tried to pull some? I've never had corn not make ears at all. They're 7+ft tall now, perfect color leaves, fertilized on time and watered correctly.

I can't find anything on the Google machine about thinning late triggering other stalks grow ears... Ugh.
I’ve always heard the closer the better due to pollination.
Has it been 80-100 days? If it has, I would pull.
From what I’ve read it could be weather (too hot and dry), soil (nutrients) or a virus .
Not sure if this helps. Is there a local college or group you could take a stalk to identify the problem?

I went to the market to buy a 5lbs King Authur 13% protein whole wheat flour bag, and a small package of dark rye flour for making roast beef sour dough sandwiches.

One cup of whole wheat flour in replace of the regular 14% protein flour I use makes the dough seem drier, so I put an extra TBS of water to this dough.

I will use only 1/2 cup of whole wheat in another batch for comparison.

I'll experiment with the dark rye flour another day.
I’m not sure if you’re aware, but the humidity in your home/local environment will have an impact on how much water you use. This is why recipes always have a range for flour. When it’s dry out you’ll use use less flour, when it’s humid you’ll us more. Depends on how thirsty your flour is.

There are eyes in the skies monitoring what EVERYONE is doing! It's really crazy. Governments are always in competition. Then of course there's Google & our own government 🙄 always trying to see what its own citizens are doing. They've already been down on small dairy farms & lately our backyard chickens. Crazy stuff indeed.
Wait, what? Who has been down on small dairy and our backyard flocks? My governor just signed a thing allowing backyard chickens all over or something to that affect

Good morning gardeners. I woke up to very cool temperatures in the low 50’s. The highs today are forecasted to be in the mid 70’s. Great weather to get out and get a lot accomplished today. I’m finally planting my pepper starts. I’m also working on expanding the littles chicken run. Depending on what type of potatoes you planted @Happy hen lover, it sounds like your potatoes are maturing and will be ready for harvest when the plants start dying back. You could dig around and look for new potatoes to see how they are developing. Yes, you are correct @igorsMistress. Humidity does affect whatever flour you are using. I don’t have much of a problem with too little humidity here. If you’ve ever been to England, you’ll understand why they call this part of the country New England. Lol! In defense of the countertop oven tangent. In addition to baking alternatives in the summer, my oven can also be used as a dehydrator. Good “tool” for a gardener. Have a great day.

Oh, @Minanora Im sure I looked strange to my neighbors by daily shaking my corn plants to ensure pollination! 😂
If you do pull one and take somewhere let us know what they found. I hope it is heat related and not something in soil
Shaking stalks & using a watercolor size paint brush to "pollinate" veggie flowers...I'm right there with ya lookin' nuts. If anyone looks out of their window they'll say "Look, there she goes again, tip toe through the tulips. Just ain't enough that she's a crazy bird lady." 😜

Speaking of nutty...any y'all remember this guy? Yup, goin back a few decades...😆 🤣 😂 (if ya need a laugh this morning, this'll do it!

Yes ,so nice & mild & breezy this morning! Oh why can't I be in the garden today!! 😕 Darn, gotta work. Well, after work I will be...let all the birds out & get some more of the plants I sprouted out of bathroom & into the garden while the heatwave takes a break. Ok have a great day everyone!

I mainly just looked in garden as we are having nightly showers and too wet to weed.
This snake bean really grew overnight. Will let grandson pick it!

Pretty sure that watermelon won’t make it there!
The bigger watermelons sound good - thump!
Have to replant summer squash- again
