What did you do in the garden today?

Just took my wild yeast sourdough loaf out of the oven and hour ago. Came out lovely. Funny, I smell and taste honey, but there's none in their, sugar either, although my taste buds are screwed up from allergies.
I also spaced out and made this from discard and not fed sourdough starter. LOL. I grabbed the wrong bowl from the counter. It still rose fine, and had great spring to it.
It's half brother, made from fed starter, is slow rising in the fridge ATM. I ran out of brainpower by 8pm. So tomorrow it is.
I’m sorry but I’m confused. Wild yeast sourdough? Doesn’t all sourdough collect wild yeast? I mean, it’s all created the same way, but if you buy a starter it’s just got wild yeast from somewhere else that you’re using to jumpstart your own isn’t it?
 
What type tomatoes are they?

Correct. Meaning I didn't use purchased starter yeast from somewhere else. Many people here do.

I can't collect yeast in the house here in the winter, which is when I've tried in years past. I finally figured out it's because my air scrubbers run 24/7 when the house is closed and the hospital grade scrubbers aren't leaving enough to collect.
Now Spring/Summer, that's a whole other ball game. Widows are wide open and we have lots of wild everything blowing through LOL.
 
G’morning gardeners. Watered the grass, but decided to hold off on the melons until tomorrow morning. They still look perky and I noticed that the cantaloupe finally has a runner growing over the side of the planter. Making more ice blocks for extended cooling really seemed to help the crew yesterday, so that was a win. There are things I want to do out there but it’s just too hot. As soon as that sun rises it’s noticeably warmer and quickly becomes overwhelming. Have any of you tried those Frogg Togg cooling things? I’ve been thinking about getting some of those and a case of water to give to the homeless folks at the parks we take the dogs to.

I’m a little confused. In my experience, yeast spores are not only in the air but attach to cabinets and wood trim inside your kitchen. I’ve moved around quite a lot in my life and could always tell if the previous occupants were bakers by the way my own yeast breads would react. The previous owners of my current house did not bake. It took a while to build up the yeast in this kitchen. Also, yeast cultures purchased online from a different area will gradually transform in the course of using the culture to make bread in your own kitchen. My original culture was homemade in 2012. That one died in 2022. I’ve since purchased a culture from San Francisco. The first two batches of bread made with this culture had a different flavor than what I’m currently getting. The local yeast is combining with the San Francisco yeast to form a flavor entirely its own. So again, I’ll admit I’m easily confused but I don’t see how air scrubbers can remove live yeast spores.

Man is it soupy out there. I finally finished cardboarding & mulching the bottom garden paths. Soooo happy to have that done. I am soaking wet, ick.

My melons are FINALLY moving along. They aren't that efficient at climbing tho. I vacuumed up some cucumber beetles from them, those stupid jerks.

No idea. But I cannot get yeast growing in this house in the winter. OC I also scrub things clean like an insane OCD. Maybe not enough was getting through the cheese cloth, maybe the house was too cold in the winter - NO idea
THE POINT IS - I finally got it to work.
