What did you do in the garden today?

I ground my left-over sour dough in my Ninja blender this morning and zapped it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then I mixed in a handful of regular chicken pellets and fed it to 3 Breese/Cornish cross chickens. They liked it better than the usual hand chopped bread. The offspring of this breeding group takes about 3 months to reach 5lbs plus, and the breeding hens lay almost every day.

Can someone please tell me, back in the long long ago far away time, before mankind started planting passive stands of tomatoes, what did the roaming herds of tomato hornworms eat? I mean, good lord. I skipped yesterday, and today I went out and heard chewing before I even made it to the garden fence. I opened the gate to find a tomato plant, that just two days ago was full and hearty, half gone and tomatoes on the plant half eaten. On it instead, was a massive worm, napkin tied around his neck, knife and fork in hand, with a name tag that said, 'HI MY NAME IS Nibbler'. SERIOUSLY?! Where do they come from so quickly and so large?!
I'm starting to wonder if one of my garden envious neighbors are breeding them and tossing them into the tomato patch at night.
A sad scenario, but love your sense of humor. It is a good question though...what were these pests ravishing before we planted gardens?

For most people. I had it once and it only lasted a few days. However, my daughter has Lupus so her immune system is compromised. It takes a little more time for her to recover.
It can be rough when you're already "damaged" from chemo or any other treatments or medications that wreaked havoc on your body, plus if you've ever had chronic bronchitis, asthma, any respiratory infections that were tough, even if years ago, it can just be hard on your system. If you have any condition you didn't even know about, heart, liver, kidneys, any issues or infections with any organs, it can be very difficult. Covid likes to find your weak spot, whatever that may be.

Ah I am sorry for that we had it the one time even from having boosters. My immune system has always been wonky.
Ditto, super sensitive system here. One thing I wish it had diminished though, and didn't, is my keen sense of smell. I smell stinky things that drive me bonkers, it's a curse I tell ya. Everything is as intense smelling as ever, even when I had covid. Must've been a Bloodhound in a past life. 👃 😆

Right? I only ever see hornworm on my tomatoes. What is their wild food if there are no tomatoes around? They also will go after other nightshade varieties - eggplant, moonflower and the like, but seriously are WE, as humans, perpetuating the beasts?

Haven't been out to the garden yet. I let Darlin and Little One out to free range a bit. I also got 6 eggs today so I'm 6 for 6. I haven't seen any signs of zucchini which sucks because a woman told me that she would happily pay 5 dollars per zucchini. 😩 I planted 2 or 3 packets of seeds for them and all I see is crookneck squash.
