What did you do in the garden today?

Tarps ready for rainy spell. Gathered standing hay for the henhouse. Noticed a few of the biddies panting, so pulled out the frozen water jugs and set them around. Getting too hot for me to be out too. Just as I sat down, HE got back with groceries. Got everything put away. Now to cool off and rehydrate. I had hoped to get out and take individual pics of each of my 25 this weekend. Don't know when that's going to happen. I need more hours in the day that humans can tolerate to be moving around out there!
Exactly! I go in and cool off, then before i get much done, my glasses are steaming up again. Time to go in.

Not to sound like a cliche', but it really isn't the heat, it's the humidity that is slowly sucking the life out of me! 97 is hot, but if I have low humidity it isn't unbearable. 89 with 86% humidity is not tolerable.

I'm changing clothes from my undies out multiple times a day and squishing around in my shoes from sweat running down scalp to soles. Gross, but true. I was afraid I'd killed my phone in my shorts pocket because it was so wet when I pulled it out. I've gone through my vast supply of bandannas and work towels every other day from using them as sweat rags. I can't remember it ever being this hot and freakishly humid for this long. Can't get laundry to dry on the line, and even the electric dryer is taking ages to get the job done. People with window air conditioning units are having to put towels under them to keep all the water from running down the walls.

we are experiencing the same high humidity. The Farmer's Almanac has listed Oklahoma and Texas in the same growing category even though we are in different climate zones.

Ok, so it's not just me. I am going to look for some of those sweat band tennis players use. I get tired of taking off my glasses wiping my face, repeat
It was nice and cool last night, wish i had enough light to see so i could work at night. The guineas are learning to use perches, so cute!
As soon as i eat supper, i am going out to put those last few veggie plants in. I know the bugs are out, they chased me in here along with the heat. Hopefully it will be a short job.
Have to pick up tools etc. Because tomorrow we are supposed to get rain.
Have a great night, folks!

Not cool but not hot either. 94* very little humidity. I use paper towels folded up inside hat as a sweat band.

Amana Orange tomato yesterday. Very few seeds and lower in acid. Delicious but not many setting.

That sounds just horrible, Wink. I hope you don't stay out in the heat too long. I honestly don't think I could handle that kind of heat, being from Minnesota. When we have the occasional hot day 80-90 degrees with high humidity, I feel like I'm going to pass out if I stay outside too long. I don't know how you do it. I'm sure you have to drink a whole lot to stay hydrated, don't you?

Got those two tomato plants in , pulled some weeds and it was getting too dark to see. I did notice two of my morning glory plants have been chewed off at the base so the vines died. This is getting annoying. I don't know if its a bug or a critter doing it. Just wish they would stop. I need to look at hot boxes anyway.

@chickmom3941 it is pretty bad. Like I said, unusual to be like this for so long. I'm drinking lytes and water, but you can only take it out there for short periods before you NEED air conditioning. Sure saps your strength.

Cap, you got rabbits or ground squirrels? Seems like I've read somewhere that a lot of animals avoid eating morning glory. Not sure which. Odd that it's chewed off like that. Cutworms?

Thunder and severe weather alerts here. Wind picked up, but no rain yet. My henhouse looks like a wrapped Christmas present with all the tarps swathed around it. The biddies will be having their first storm. Dolly keeps wanting to go out and check on them. I think she knows she's supposed to protect them. She tells me when it's time to go make last rounds each night. Now that they are outside, she calls me to the door and waits for me to put on my headlamp to walk out, makes a bee line to the henhouse and peeks in the door at them. Anytime they make extra noise, she's letting me know that we need to have a go-see. Maybe she'll turn out to be a decent LGD? Who'da thunk?
