What did you do in the garden today?

A friend sent me some. I'll have to save some of my own if I can't find them. Well, I should save some anyway, right?
(going to ask google where to get some right now)
I've never heard of them, but I love cucumber & lemon, they sound so awesome. Grab some of those & the little orange cherry tomatoes in a baggie for a flavorful snack in the middle of workday...yum!!! My tastebuds are looking forward to trying them. 😋

I broke the broody! Woo!

Picked tomatoes and peppers today. My fridge died, had to throw out almost everything in the kitchen fridge. Shopping for a new one this weekend I guess. Not amused.

Pictures of the insanity. Corn topped out at over 10' tall. The tomatoes are 5-6' from the soil level in the beds, from the ground I need a step stool to tie the tops. Clover is thriving, hardly need to water it now! Woohoo.

The smoke from the wildfires is starting to make the air miserable. That haze in the distance is smoke covering the mountains.

Wow sorry about the refrigerator...They're so expensive these days, too. I was pricing some yesterday. Of course they are all stainless steel, too. No more just plain white? I guess we have to order them & they'll cost as much as the stainless. PITA
I have SS now, supposedly was fingerprint proof....yeah right...NOT. Darn thing Always looks smudged, sorry I give up, this kitchen is for cooking & eating, not looking like a showroom or magazine photo. Lol

I briefly took a quick peek at the garden this afternoon on a jaunt to the mailbox. All my mulch and cardboard were washed away. The very few corn seedlings that haven't disappeared were flattened by the flash flooding. I haven't looked inside the hoop house to check for damage in there yet.
Bummer indeed, so sorry, I feel for ya. 😞

I thought I would just do a quick stroll in garden 😂
Time of year I take 2 showers!

Noticed butternut squash vine looked like dying and sure enough I missed one!

Decided to pick the corn bc worms have arrived.

Found some wasabi mustard greens growing w corn!

My butternut squash is growing up sunflower- which is about 11 feet tall - and has squash on it 😮

I think my snake bean has stopped growing at about 62 inches!

The chickens were loving all the worms today!

My lavender transplant is not dead dead - mostly alive 😬

Oh - that’s max capacity of my basket bc it was creaking all the way inside!!

Tell me more about something that will kill fire ants!!!
Our fire ant, European, tunnels, & does not mound, so you don't even know where they are. (They're Every-Freaking-Where) & the only thing you can possibly use is a type of bait they can carry back down into the tunnels. I use Antixx, it is also organically approved, & has Spinosad. It did help knock down the population quite a bit. But once they're here, there is no completely eradicating them. I've only gotten stung once this year though, so it is a great improvement.

A few years ago I applied predatory nematodes 1x, and not even the whole pack. They definitely helped. Those were from a different supplier (Spaulding labs). This year, based on cost and postage, I subscribed to a 5 month (might add Oct, weather depending) subscription bc bugs have been a problem and I really try to not use pesticides*. I’m using Natures Good Guys this year. I have already noticed a reduction in those tiny flies, and cabbage looper moths (still have caterpillars munching though). So, I’m hoping next year I can apply early season and late season only, assuming the 5-6 monthly applications this year were successful.

Where did you get your nemotodes?
I obviously can’t answer for @Acre4Me but I’ve seen that brand on Amazon: Link.

I’ve been strongly considering getting some myself but the reviews say it needs to be kept refrigerated and with the ridiculous heat I haven’t trusted it to arrive alive. 🫣
