What did you do in the garden today?

No deer problems because of the dog, and he is rapidly taking care of the rabbit issue as well. The wood fence is lined with a wire fence, more to keep him away from the coop and birds when they are out. The space beyond where the cat tunnel is now has a poultry fence that finishes off keeping rabbis out of there as well. Usually I find them in the hostas under the birdfeeder.

@NorthTexasWink that's what I was afraid of with chaste tree, we already have Bougainvillea in another area. I like it, but when the wind bliws those punk petals are everywhere. I like the idea of grapes though.

I will definitely look at crepe myrtle too @Pensmaster probably a bush variety.

Thanks all for the ideas!

Did a lot of yard work today with the help of our German visitor! We dug out a redbud tree. Pounded in 7 6 foot t-posts and put up 3 cattle panels. Cut 1 of the panels to make a gate and then grabbed the leftover piece to use in the garden. Smoothed more bugs on the cucumber vines and laid down more newspaper in anticipation of chipping more branches tomorrow. Also picked a few cherry tomatoes. Saw the first 2 blossoms on the green bean vines Cut open the smaller pumpkin. Shared the seeds & guts between 3 chicken coops & the turkey coop. They all made quick work of them! Might make a pumpkin pie tomorrow.

Tomato soup turned out quite thick. Yummy but I think it will be better in spaghetti sauce perhaps tomorrow. Mowing part of the orchard wore me out. :frow

So, tell me about your tomato soup? Looks like you roasted them on your grill. Then what? Inquiring minds want to know. That sounds like a wonderful way to process tomatoes before getting them into the jars.

My neighbor who I gave some Wine Cap mushroom spawn to has reported her first shrooms! I'm not so lucky. her location was perfect, mine, perhaps too sunny.

Picking Fortex beans in the garden. First Blue Lake blossoms in the orchard. Have harvested garlic, some heads almost as big as my fist. Will be yummy!!! Tomatoes coming on.
