What did you do in the garden today?

I thinned out the bok choi seedlings in the garden. Carrot seeds are starting to sprout so I removed the thin boards they were covered with.

One flower stem on my kale was covered with a layer of aphids. I plucked it off. It's strange how the aphids on my kale don't migrate across the entire plant. They stay localized on a single leaf or stem. I pluck it off, no more aphids. Haven't had to spray them with anything.

Picked a few green beans, parsley and a red potato that I'll add to garlic, kale and zucchini for my lunch and supper.

On the topic of appliances, I want a top load washer that I can put a butter knife in the hole to make it start agitating so that I can add bleach to the water and hold a stained piece of clothing above and just allow the agitator to gently pull it in and not dye it. I'm really picky about the mayo because I have heard a lot of talk about how canola and soybean oils are not actually oils, but they are chemicals just put together to get people to buy them. I then wonder why the FDA allows companies to do that and I only have one conclusion, the companies that are insisting that their products are good for us are paying the government off.

Okay here's the recipe for KFC gravy: 4 tablespoons butter, 4 tablespoons flour, 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, 1/8 teaspoon white pepper, 1/4 teaspoon sea salt, 2 cups chicken broth, 1 cup water 1/2 teaspoon beef bouillon granules. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the flour, onion powder, salt and pepper. Whisk to combine. Cook, stirring, until mixture begins to brown, about 2 minutes. Slowly whisk in the chicken broth until smooth. Add the water and bouillon. Bring to a gentle boil and cook, whisking, until gravy thickens, about 1-2 minutes. Add more salt and pepper if needed

I remember doing the knife/screwdriver in the slot trick to keep the washer going with the top open. There are too many safety features these days that are preventing Darwinism from doing its job. :lau

Corn sugar/syrup is not a naturally existing product. Corn starch is altered somehow to create it, and the human body isn't set up to use it. Bad stuff IMHO.

Haven't been to the garden yet. For the question about mayo or MW, if it isn't labeled Best Food's or Hellman's, it's not allowed in my house. The youngest daughter bought a gallon of WinCo brand mayo and I told my husband that I needed mayo for the macaroni salad and someone said there's mayonnaise in the refrigerator, I stopped and said the hell if there is, I wouldn't use that generic ass crap. That is the last time anyone ever decided to buy anything other than Best Food's.

I understand you about mayo. I prefer to make it myself with my fresh eggs and extra virgin olive oil. 1 egg + 1 yolk, about 1 cup of olive oil, little salt, 1 tbs lemon juice or 1 tsp vinegar and about 1 tsp mustard. it is good for salads. if it is for sandwiches I prefer to put half olive oil and half sunflower oil. it can be refrigerated for a few days only.

That sounds like I need to start making some mayo for myself and watch while the family devours it and then decide that bc it wasn't store bought they don't like it 🤣
