What did you do in the garden today?

She hides in the nest box and when she comes out to eat there is nowhere for her to run. Her sister got mated to death. I should take this hen out of his pen and put her with the free ranging ones in my back yard, since I already collected enough eggs to hatch. However, I am not sure if the other hens will allow her to eat out of their step on paddle feeder and my rooster will feel sad and lonely.

cut his spurs. if necessary cut his nails as well.

I too have 1 green bell pepper ready to pick soon, anxiously watching it grow & checking on it...1st one of the year! Yeah, my pepper plant was a late bloomer.

I see these ornamental peppers at Lowe's, they are multi colored & resemble small Serranos...I might 😋 eat one to see what they taste like.

I took a break today. I needed it. I harvested tomatoes today and watered.

Mom ramble: We're discussing the idea of producing another tiny human. I've done the pro/con thing. Every time I come up feeling selfish. So... We're going to 'try'. I think I'm going to be sick. Babies are amazing, having to have another cesarian.... and not sleep for months... and still get our small human to school... and not loose my job that I L.O.V.E. I love my job so much.... It gives me exactly what I need to feel fulfilled and happy (outside of my garden). I do enjoy being mom and all that, but I do need my sense of self.

I pruned all those seeds for the broccoli and cauliflower. wowza I really over seeded.

go for another baby. it is sad to grow up as a single child. ask me how I know it.

Or if you start breathing heavily. I find myself panting when I get hot, that's my warning to stop immediately and cool down. I will sit in front of a fan, and usually put an ice pack on the back of my neck.

I have had heat exhaustion a few times, it's not fun. It also makes you more susceptible to getting overheated again.

Wear a hat, loose clothing, and drink water constantly.
Many years ago, I had heat exhaustion. Tried working in a canning factory during pumpkin harvest. I lasted 2 hours and the heat got me.
