What did you do in the garden today?

When I saved beans for seed, I let them stay on the vine as long as possible. Then I picked the pods and left them somewhere warm-ish, but dry (not humid, like the basement) to finish drying and curing. Shelling them was a task for after other garden work was done for the season. They can sit in the pods and wait for you.
Thanks, that’s kind of what I was thinking. :)

Same here.

I picked about 3 dozen army worms off my collards, which made my flock happy.

I also have thinned the beet and Swiss chard seedlings. Some of the old seed sprouted nicely, but the rainbow chard was a total bust, none germinated. I'll plant some carrots in the gaps.

This utility company is beyond stupid.
They re-dug the hole they filled in last week. The one I spent two hours cleaning up and regrading.

Today they tore up a 15 feet wide, and 30 foot long strip of ground PLUS the 5x5x5 foot deep hole. Their equipment completely tore off all the grass down to the dirt. It's all gone. They left ruts and rocks and left it a hell of a mess. Literally tossed two handfulls of seed on it and left.

OMG I am livid.
FIRST of all, why they couldn't put it 12 feet north, where there is nothing but weeds along the road for 1.5 miles is BEYOND me.
No, they had to put it straddling BOTH livestock access drives. MASSIVE loads of machinery and cattle come and go through here on a steep hill. We rely on solid clear ground to get in and out of there safely.

Now there is deep loose soil, high erosion potential (very top of the hill), and loose stone that is ankle snaps in the high grass waiting to happen or like driving on 3 inch marbles, not to mention the lump of a box on the side of two drives.

Is it too much to ask for people to have brains?!

I spent 3 hours fixing it so we have a chance of using it without hurting us or damaging equipment. AND I put down 5 pounds of seed. We're in drought with no hope for rain, so I'll drag a hose and sprinkler up there to try to stabilize the soil. Yes, it's the right of way, but WE are required to maintain it even if the county/utility trash it .

I am pissed at the whole thing, but nothing I can do about it.
I'm not sure who I'd complain to, but someone should be getting an ear full. Yes, they are obviously brainless!

Call and raise hell.... They likely used a contractor. They will come fix it. When I worked in that business 20 years ago, we even resodded someone's entire yard if it was slightly damaged by contractors.
Yes definitely! Follow up with an email, too, document the conversation & even include photos if you can.

I was in Home Depo yesterday and they have Christmas decorations out already. :barnie
I feel the pain...I'm still trying to get used to the Halloween stuff they dragged out in August. I went into work after a day off & saw a bunch of Christmas decor at Lowe's yesterday. I guess they'll try to beat eachother & do it earlier each year, til we really do have Christmas in July lol.
