What did you do in the garden today?

Checked on eggs this morning. She was off them again and they were ice cold. 😑 Brought them inside to candle them and don't see any movement. 🙁 I put them in the incubator to warm them up. I'll candle them again this evening. If there's still no movement, I'll be forced to concede...
I am sorry !

My small 4 ft Duran tree that I have growing in a 5-gallon pot look like it was dying in the hot sun. I forgot to water it for 3 days and the potting soil was completely dry, so I pruned all the branches and watered it. I hope it comes back.

My plan with this tree is to keep it small and alive until it fruits. I think it takes at least 8 to 10 years before they fruit from seed, so I treat it like an ornamental plant. I should buy a grafted Duran tree, since it only takes 5 years for a grafted tree to fruit.

I got another epiphany after playing in my garden for a few hours. I soaked a 15 inch x 24 inch microfiber hand towel in ice cold water and cooled off my head and body. I stop sweating after that and decided to leave my rinsed microfiber in the ice box.

This is my best summer idea to date. I find myself cooling off with the ice-cold microfiber towel throughout the day.

Put a couple in the ice box, keep one around your neck and swap

Well there is still hope. I candled both eggs and THINK they are both still alive. One has pipped into the air cell. It's probably the one I heard chirping yesterday morning. It didn't chirp when I candled it but I do think it moved a little. Not totally sure because it's a Welsummer egg so very hard to see through clearly. I'll try to candle again when it's a little darker. The 2nd egg is either white or very pale blue. I can still see veins and movement. It probably needs at least another 3-4 days... I still have my hen in the nesting box. Gave her a fake egg. I'll watch over the next day or two and see if she remains persistently refusing to sit in this box. Either it will break her broodiness or she will brood. One way or the other. I just hope I can stick chicks under her and she will accept them.
