What did you do in the garden today?

Anyone else attending any of these Seed Exchange Edible Communities events? Dallas is a quick and easy 40 min flight. Thinking about going...

I have not. I seed save, however this is my first year giving seeds away. My fingers are actually raw from collecting and packaging "Red Rubin" basil seeds today. :P

I live too far away for any of these big events. I'm not going up to Palo Alto for any reason, ever. Lol.

I imagine every house has fireplace or some sort of serious heater.
We have a wood stove as well as a furnace. Every house in Michigan has a furnace of some sort. Lots of homes (maybe most?) in the cities are built without a fireplace. And lots of homes in the country have a fireplace or a wood stove.

@TJAnonymous, I'd love to go to one of the Seed Savers Exchange's swap meet/presentations. If they just had one in Lansing, Michigan...! Home of Michigan State University, which is well known for its agricultural programs and veterinary school.

It was founded as the Agricultural College of Michigan. I remember seeing green and white (the school colors) T-shirts with a cow on them, and underneath it said, "Moo U."

I have no ties to it; my mom and her mom went to the University of Michigan, MSU's rival. U of M is known for its medical programs. Human medical programs. :)

Well it depends when a house was built what it has, if it’s been updated by previous owners and the building codes. For example my house was built with a furnace & a fireplace and is in the county in an area that was once rural but is now more suburban with an occasional little farm surrounded by the sprawl. Thus I have just enough land to keep suburban chickens & I am allowed veggie garden in front & backyard. However it was pre cooling systems for the summer, so I had an AC put in the house. My house is older than me.

This is the creek closest to my house. That was yesterday. I'm relieved to have the rain stop

5/8 inch of rain yesterday. Foggy damp and 39. I watched some videos on mouse bait. One said mice like tootsie rolls. Baited my snap traps with some. Time will tell.
About the same weather here.
I know mice steal mini marshmallows out of the dog proof traps.

That's probably not even an eighth of a mile from our house. The neighbor has been working on fixing the flood problem but when the rain starts Thursday night and doesn't stop until Saturday afternoon, it's a flood. I didn't get any pictures of the backyard and I wish I would have. Our yard hasn't been that bad in quite a while. We're expecting more rain Monday morning and it's supposed to be all day
