We found it at this garden center about an 90 minutes from us. It is perhaps the nicest, most comprehensive place we have ever seen. They have by far the best herb and garden plant selection we've ever seen, which makes it a very dangerous place to visit. Lot of good info on their website.

Citronella is the tall light green one behind the okra. We just cut it back and hung some fresh in the coop to keep the mozzies away from the girls. We were just laughing about the okra. Planted it because we love it and it did so well for us in Texas. We have 3 little okras coming on, and with luck maybe will have an appetizer by Labor Day. Just not enough of that southern heat here

We find these at Lowe's Garden Center as mosquito plants.

Mowed the yards and garden yesterday evening.
Spent part of the early morning pulling grass from the garden beds...don't know the variety, but it clumps at the beginning and root a along the nodes like crab grass. The difference is it is 3 feet tall in two weeks of rainy days!!
Threw some over the fence into the poultry pens. The ducks love it.
Sorry to hear about all the rain in Texas...predictions of up to 35 inches in three days is the same as the annual rainfall in OKC! Just so hard to imagine.
Hubby took me down to one of our ponds to see the pastures, the Canadian geese and to check on our herds. We did a little plugging too...bass, crappie and perch.
Ticks and chiggers abound....bleach baths helped.

Picked and canned 9 pts. of g. beans. Tackled a burdock plant at the corner of the run/green house. That thing was 5' tall and 7' diameter. It's now resting in my wheelbarrow. there is an other one at the other end of the run that is equally impressive in size. I hope to take that one down also, load them onto the truck, and take them to the dump tomorrow, return with a truck load of wood chips.

Cleaned a lot of golden rod out from behind the run and the green house. That stuff was 4' tall. Interesting challenge, that: bees were loving that golden rod. In spite of all the buzzing going on, I did not get stung. All that stuff will go into the chicken run to replenish their DL.

Harvested onions. Most impressive crop I've ever grown. BTE all the way!!!

Oh man, i can't stand chigger bites! I dig at them until i get that tube out. Have you read about them? Disgusting! I stay out of tall weeds or grass!

We cleaned coop and run today. I did some tractor maintenance, cleared some brush and trees from the trails and chipped them for the garden and chicken run. We took a break this afternoon and headed over to a farm a few miles away that sells apples and cider. I saw on Facebook they were pressing their first cider of the season today and we got the first gallon right off the press!

I just had another glass. This batch is a little tart due to the apples that are mature now. The October cider is like liquid sugar. I'm already and insomniac, I get into that stuff and I won't sleep for days! I always thought the internet is either the best or the worst thing to happen to people who can't sleep....

Oh I know what you mean about the internet! Sometimes it puts me out, others it keeps me awake. Makes for a long day at work

35 inches is almost 2 years of water here. With our drought it would have been more than 2 years supply of water

24" is average yearly rain fall here.
