What did you do in the garden today?

Finally the thick crust of ice has melted and the temperatures are supposed to remain above freezing until Friday evening. It’s been pretty stressful these past few days because the depth of the snow and my wild child dog Chloe has been contemplating taking advantage of the snow pack and jumping out of the yard. That threat is over. I’m also looking forward to being able to get to my compost pile. Once the snow is gone I can assemble my new garden beds.

I cut a new gateway into my garden fencing / so now I don’t have to walk through goose territory to get into the only entrance I used to have. They did not like to let me walk by with my arms full of vegetables. It was very hard to get out of the garden and back to the house now it should be easy Peezy lol sorry geese but you will still get your share

I collected sap this morning and then just wandered, looking at my garden. Chickees are upset with me because now that the ground is bare and thawed I expect them to find their own breakfast. Spoiled babies.

Chicks in the incubator are done hatching. One redhead, one black, 5 yellow stripies. Their dad was a JG/RIR redhead when he was born, their moms are mostly Ranger. Except the black, her mom is a BA.

The Weather Channel did a story today about drought potential for this spring and summer. We've had so much wet weather that I'm concerned it's going to flip on its head over the next few months. They predict Arkansas will remain about normal but most of the West, Southwest, and Plains area will either persist or develop drought over the next 3 months. 🙁
