What did you do in the garden today?

He must be related to Bob who came visiting my barn the night before last... 🙄 Going to try to trap him this week and somehow NOT capture the 3 stray cats that help keep the rodent population somewhat contained.

LUCKILY, mine got himself addicted to peppermint horse treats during his rampages. So I used those as bait, otherwise I'd use cat food, which would mean a few cat catches before I'd eventually get him.

All of our feed is locked away in metal trash cans... So the only thing dude has been raiding is the bowl of cat food on the tack room table. Or any stray eggs in hidden nests that I miss.

Peppermint horse treats eh? I might have a peppermint treat block for horses that you hang in the stall. Wonder if that would work? We usually use sardines to catch critters but I'm pretty sure I'd end up with the cats instead. 😂

Hummingbird fountain is up and running.

Another hummingbird buzzed by my head again today but I wasn't quick enough to see it.

I love hummingbirds. hey should be to my area in a few weeks. I love it when they buzz me for the first time of the season. It's like they're saying hi, we're back!

What the heck is this?!

In the late 90's, I was taking some clothes out to hang on the clothesline and heard a buzzing,(with my arms full of clean and wet clothes), I was wearing a really bright pink shirt and when the buzzing got to where I could seem it, it was a hummingbird and it was about 2-3 inches away from my chest. Apparently it thought my shirt might have some good nectar.

I got the strawberry grow bags hung outside yesterday. That was about all. Today I filled the larger new garden bed with topsoil and very well aged compost from the old chicken run. Yesterday and today got into the mid 60’s. Yesterday I was so not dressed for those warm temperatures. Today it was a T shirt. Right now we are getting a late afternoon storm. Maybe a thunderstorm. Nearly all the daffodils are blooming now. The lilac trees are getting leaves as are the apple trees. Hopefully we’re done with hard freezes.
