You never know what the weather will do next. I am curious how much snow we will get this winter.oh yes last year all my lettuce's, spinach, broccoli everything bolted in June here had never had that before but remember there is no climate change![]()
I used to harvest kudzu for my goats. It is high in protein and people love to get rid of it. I wonder if chickens like it?

We used to have a pond with goldfish in it, and I bought lots of duckweed for the pond, in hopes that it would multiply and be a constant source of greens for the fish. Well, the goldfish loved it so much they just gobbled it all down immediately and it never had a chance to multiply. Lol - such little gluttons! Our pond is a unending supply of duckweed, use a pool skimmer to harvest, toss into a 5gal bucket, toss it into runs birds gobble it!
Supposed to have lots of protein but it also contains tons of water.
Have a almost flat steel roof on the backside of my garage, have thought about drying a ton out and baging it up for winter but haven't tried it yet.
Sounds wonderful. I would give almost anything to be able to go fishing with my dad again. Miss him & mom so much. You will always cherish those special days you spend with your parents - keep it up as long as you can! Sounds like your chickens will be very happy about your fishing trip, too!We started early today, tending to the flock at dawn and enjoying a wonderful breakfast from the garden, a swiss quiche with swiss chard and swiss cheese, fresh breakfast bread with homemade blueberry jam...thanks D! Then we traveled 2 hours north to meet with our son and parents to continue a tradition my Dad and I have done for our birthdays since I was a little kid: we went fishing! We are only a couple days apart, and no matter where I have lived or what I have been doing, we find each other and go fishing, a tradition I hope to continue with my son. This was our 50th year to do so. It was an awesome day, we all caught fish and enjoyed each others company. Tomorrow the flock will enjoy a fish skin (scaled) dinner.
I get given tomatoes and I make tomato sauce in the slow cooker. I roast everything first. Garlic tomatoes onions then bung it in the slow cooker. It's all pretty much hands-off. Just needs a stir every now and then, in the oven and then in the slow cooker. Very good for lazy/unmotivated people like me.
