What did you do in the garden today?

It doesn't work for all breeds, and you only have a window of a couple days to look, like a week to 10 days old. And I THINK, and I could be remembering backwards, that hens have the tail feathers in the age range. Cockerels get theirs later. But it's been a while.

I usually have to wait until and egg comes out, or doesn't. I've had pullets that stand up straight and crow.....so....Ya. LOL.
My few cockerels always got red combs first, way ahead of the pullets. And those big feet!

Almost done filling raised bed number 2, but… still got at least 2 cubic meter compost left over 🤪 thinking about building another midsize raised bed, was planing on only building a small one for my dahlias 🤔
Will plant tomatoes and potatoes there tomorrow
Just read potatoes and tomatoes don’t make good neighbors 😬

That's because they’re both nightshades. You need to have some distance between them.

I planted the potatoes this morning then started work on the bed that will house the dinosaur kale, carrots and lettuce. I turned the soil and will give it time to dry and loosen up a bit. Also worked on the 2 herb beds. There is a little thyme left but that and the parsley need to be replanted. The chives have finally got well established so that will be usable now. I did some more cleaning up in the oregano bed and I found the oregano coming up strong. There’s still sage in there but I may put more seed in there. I watered everything including the grass seed. Tomorrow I’m going to check to see if my lawnmower is ready to roll. The grass is all uneven with heavy growth in patches it makes the yard look raggedy. I’m only mowing the front yard first. So I am making progress on the vegetable planting. Nearly halfway there. I have flowers to plant as well. I also picked a few more asparagus spears this morning.

Look up fusarium or verticullum wilt. I believe you have the former.
It's so sad when we have to destroy plants we've so lovingly and hopefully nursed along.
I've grown potatoes in this tub for 2 years now with no problems.

I added new garden soil because I'd lost a lot due to runoff and compaction... Since I use the same garden soil in multiple beds with no problem, I don't think this is the culprit.

Could fusarium or verticullum be transferred via insects?
