What did you do in the garden today?

The fee schedule for our county is absolute garbage. Our raw land is under county regulation, far outside of any city limits. We also have protected species of oak tree. And our property sits inside a "sensitive resource area". Which limits what we can build and makes it expensive for no good reason.
And I’m sure your property taxes are insane.

So today we canned 12 quarts of potatoes, pulled a few more peas (I’m determined to get every one of them), harvested about another two pounds of blackberries and few more raspberries. Checked on the broody hen who screams at me when I do so BUT she isn’t so upset that she refuses curb service on the treats.

Speaking of zucchini, how kuch of a problem to you have with squash bugs?
Last year, I didn't have any problems with squash bugs. Squash vine borer and powdery mildew were my issues.

I did have squash bugs on my butternut squash a few years ago, lots of them. I'd read that planting daikon radishes among the squash plants deters them. I had done that several years before and not had any squash bugs, so I'm doing it again this year. You just plant a few daikons, scattered in with the squash vines, and let them grow, flower, and go to seed.

I'd read that the entire radish plant is edible, even the seed pods. Some people pickle them. I ate an immature seed pod: it tasted like radish.
